EU COMMISSION PROPOSES COUNTER-TARIFFS ON RANGE OF US IMPORTS AT 25% IN RESPONSE TO US STEEL DUTIES,

DOCUMENT SHOWS EU COMMISSION PROPOSES 25% TARIFF ON US GOODS TO TAKE EFFECT FROM MAY 16 -DOCUMENT

May 16 means they're leaving an entire month for negotiations though.

By contrast, Trump's new tariffs on China take effect tomorrow and the day after.

Where will the rest of the world get the electricity to produce all the things China produces for them? Do the Taiwanese thing 用爱发电?

JF12/JF22-windtunnels need alot of electricity to operate and test our new weapons/tech.If America's electrical grid is as antiquated as Canada's then it explains why the westoids have fallen behind.Strengthen and prosper China first Beijing-that's a great win in itself.

Trump threatens China with an ADDITIONAL 50% tariff if they don’t remove their new 34% tariff on U.S. goods

Very unlikely China will remove the 34% tariff, very unlikely Trump is joking -> by April 9th we will have 100% tariff on Chinese goods.

Practically he is decoupling from China in one go.

This will have very heavy impact for both countries.

IMHO after the experience of slow decoupling in semiconductors, where the export bans have been gradual and spaced in time along 5 years, with the net result that China has been able to reach self-sufficiency with an incredible hard work but also with many years of time, now he does not want to do the same mistake and is going for the full punch immediately....

The rest of the world is hoping after China strikes back, Trump will rethink his tariffs on them. Why are Trump and the Republicans so angry at China for retaliating when it serves their goal of decoupling with China? That tells you that wasn't expected. As usual they think everyone needs the US more than the US needs of them. Like the clues say it's a negotiating ploy. Trump wants more than just removal of tariffs on US products. Like with Vietnam... zero per cent tariffs on US products is not enough. Yes like it's been said, the ultimate goal is redrawing global trade. Like I've been saying, this is where you'll see which countries will jump onto a sinking ship and with those countries, China shouldn't think of kumbaya in helping them until they're desperate begging China to giving them a lifeline. Not only do they need China to buy from them, they need less expensive goods which they won't be getting from any manufacturing done in the US. And by their logic says, the whole point of US tariffs is bringing back manufacturing to the US. It goes against the stream if the US makes it easier to export to the US by backtracking on tariffs. You think Trump is a genius with a plan? He's so chaotic contradicting himself because he didn't think about it thoroughly. And you can see it with the Republicans defending him. All they do is repeat the talking points given supporting Trump. Yeah they want tariffs on China but not as much with traditional allies but they have blindly support their leader or they get fired.
I'd recognize Trump as a genius if his gambling worked out in the end. He kept his idea for about 40 years, and there is a chance that the idea is well-thought-out.

But it seems like Americans always forget China is ruling by communist party when they're gambling, and I've seen some literally betting everything on Trump's 4D chess move just like living in a real casino.
