Trump 2.0 official thread

That usually makes sense once, but not 10 times, then you become a clown and no one takes you seriously anymore. If he had power, and America was truly a supapowa, he could've ordered the Mexican govt 24 hours to do everything he wanted in terms of cartels and goodbye.

Trump does have the ability to implement those tariffs. By using them as a threat, he gets concessions each time. It works because neither of those countries have any leaders with balls.

How do we know that he 'got' anything? And as I said, it's a question of whether he has the administrative-logistical mass apparatus, personnel, and political capacity to enforce and maintain those tariffs. Yeah, he can sign some paper, but then what? Do you think that someone who backtracks 10 times has more 'balls' instead of those countries lmao? And we are talking about a supposed numba 1 supapowa here. If that were the case, then why do they even need so much roundabout gymnastics to enforce their will on their first neighbor on even basic issues?

Canada imposed tariffs on China. As for why Trump does it instead of some other way: it's Trump, duh!

Is Trump insane? Why does he keep walking it back so many times already? How does anyone still take him seriously at this point? Or maybe the truth is that the U.S. just isn’t capable of actually administering or enforcing tariffs at the southern border in any meaningful way anymore now.

I think he is saving it for April 1st because that’s the day of the reciprocal tariffs. There is a theory that the Trump administration wants a crash because they have $7 trillion of short term treasury bonds that need to pay. He doesn’t want to refinance. So they plan cause a crash to increase the demand of these bonds and lower yields. Sounds insane but I can see this being the explanation of his economic policies.
