Thanks very much for your diligent work and for keeping us up to speed on these developments, both are gratefully appreciated!

Thanks a lot!

Just an idea ... are we sure, these are recent images? Or could it be some sort of disinformation or at least a "time delay" in order to cover up the true status of the "former" (?) Naval Air Brigades?

Today something interesting came to my mind:

Why did China leave some 50 J-11 under PLANAF instead of transfering them to PLAAF like other coastal aircraft? Might that be because PLANAF plans to procure J-35 at a level that exceeds the demand from Carrier fleets (and 076 perhaps)? By having more active J-35 in operation than carriers allow PLANAF will have reserves for airframe losses and still a ground based aviation squadron under their own discretion. Procuring J-35 for this instead of J-20 or J-16 will make those aircraft also viable as carrier reserves and help PLANAF focus on only one aircraft. And they are holding onto those J-11s so that pilots and support infrastructure stays intact until J-35 comes.

Does this make any sense?

The 50 J11 fighter jets listed as in-service with PLANAF in English language Wikipedia is different from Chinese language WIkipedia which stated all of them have been transferred to PLAAF.

I cannot confirm which is correct, but English language Wikipedia is normally less reliable than the Chinese language version when the subject matters are related to China's military.

Do they really „leave some 50 J-11 under PLANAF instead of transfering them to PLAAF“?

Has anyone seen or heard any news concerning PLANAF J-11 aircraft in recent months? I'm scanning Chinese language Twitter but so far haven't found anything. Just wondering if PLANAF still operates the type from shore stations (or not) ...

Thanks very much for the reply, Mr. Rupprecht. I realize you're very busy with the air show and related industry news, so I'm grateful for your time and valuable input.
