Transfer of PLANAF assets to PLAAF?

Thanks very much for the reply, Mr. Rupprecht. I realize you're very busy with the air show and related industry news, so I'm grateful for your time and valuable input.

Oh, no problem but it is indeed difficult to keep up and not to miss anything, but my wife is out with her friends, the kids are already grown up and so dad has an (almost) free weekend for his hobby!

I have a follow-up question. Do the PLANAF aircraft transferred to PLAAF retain their prior paint schemes and markings? In other words, do they still have the colours of their PLANAF service?

Or have they been repainted and renumbered to reflect their new commands?

That's a question I still wasn't able to fully answer ... IMO most fighters are just transferred as they are and only slowly a few were repainted like this JH-7A, albeit still with the same serial number:

JH-7A 83296 - Sino-Thai Falcon Strike 2024 - 疯子白杨.jpg

Otherwise I haven't seen any renumbered type so far.

Okay thank you so much, your insights are as always very gratefully appreciated!

A minor update via IISS:

PLAN NA to PLAAF by IISS 2025.png

However by my understanding, some of the bases are not confirmed or even wrong and the former 7th Naval Air Division ( 807th Air Brigade - former NAU unit - is missing!

I am struggling to understand the reorganization. Just when I thought J-11B/BH operations in PLANAF have ceased, I see photos and Chinese sources that seem to indicate land-based fighters continue under PLANAF command.

So confusing. = (

Yes it is confusing and even more so we have no true concrete evidence for certain units and their current status. For example, J-11BH fighters are still flown within the NAU for training and - even if IISS claims otherwise - the 8th NAB within the STC is also still operational.
