That's a pretty low bar. Need to compete with the Japanese and European manufacturer not the entitled big 3 of Detroit.

I own an Audi, went through BMW and Mercedes before settling on Audi (because of styling, not of quality or prices). I have also sit in an Tesla Model S, looked and touched it, it just don't give the feel of luxury, craftsmanship and quality.
Tesla's uniqueness is its being 1st in the "luxury" sector of full EV. Problem is that it is not as luxury as BBA (Chinese term for the three German luxury cars, BMW, Benz(Mercedes) and Audi), neither is it better than any other full EVs in doing the work of "A to B in one charge vs. Price". Let's wait to see what happens when BBA get in the full EV market (Audi just began the delivery of its 2019 e-tron SUV in Europe).

I'm not a fan of Mercedes, mostly because of the handling and styling. BMW is decent. Normally I drive a Audi q5. I hated the Tesla when I went to check it out at the dealer, workmanship is brutal bad. I used to drive a Lexus, also very good, but they don't make SUV in the right size, so switch to Audi. My wife is looking at the new Volvo xc60, the handling is very good, and quality is probably better than my Audi.
before we go too far OT, just suggest to you, the all E Audi etron SUV is based on the Audi Q5 (size and categorization wise), so you may have a future upgrade in sight. Volvo is really moving into the luxury sector since the time when they changed from all numerical serial to alphabet-numeral, in the same way as Audi (100 -> A6 etc.)

If there is a trade war and China decided to increase tariff, the first thing that comes to mind is that beef price in China would rise in the short term. I can see that this would help people living in poverty line as there are programs mentioned in CCTV where they are technically Re-Collectivizing (or "incoporating") small patch of lands into a large one and everyone could work in it for wages, plus rent (from the land that they rent out). Trade war may speed up these program that is helping the poor.
These program is not like the old program where there are set targets and all the production are sent to the government. They have the same idea, but companies or farming technician would go to a village and rent their land and have the people below poverty line to either work or contract out production of crops or cattle. The company would guarantee buy back, where as "farming technician" helps the village to increase supplies and sales of the products.
