PEARL HARBOR, Hawaii (Oct. 24, 2008) Two helicopters from the "Easy Riders" of Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron Light (HSL) 37, perform a fly-over between Kilo pier and the USS Missouri and USS Arizona Memorials at the beginning of a change of command ceremony in which Rear Adm. Townsend G. Alexander was relieved by Rear Adm. Dixon R. Smith as commander, Navy Region Hawaii and commander, Naval Surface Group Middle Pacific at Naval Station Pearl Harbor. PEARL HARBOR, Hawaii (Oct. 25, 2008) The Tarawa-class amphibious assault ship USS Peleliu (LHA 5) passes the Battleship Missouri Memorial as she makes her way pier side to Naval Station (NAVSTA) Pearl Harbor. The Peleliu Expeditionary Strike Group and the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit arrived in NAVSTA Pearl Harbor after a six-month deployment to the U.S. 7th Fleet area of responsibility. PACIFIC OCEAN (Oct. 25, 2008) Aviation Boatswain's Mate (Handling) 1st Class Dennis Yanez, from Riverside, Calif., directs an MH-60S Sea Hawk from the "Eightballers" of Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 8 into the helo-hole on the flight deck aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74). Stennis and Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 9 are part of the John C. Stennis Carrier Strike Group conducting composite training unit exercise off the coast of Southern California. GULF OF OMAN (Oct. 26, 2008) Electrician's Mate Fireman Apprentice Caren Lorenzen, assigned to the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS George H. W. Bush (CVN 77), stands watch in the integrated launch and recovery television surveillance control room to observe flight operations aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71). The Nimitz-class aircraft carrier and embarked Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 8 are conducting operations in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility and are focused on reassuring regional partners of the United States commitment to security, which promotes stability and global prosperity.
