MOBILE, Ala. (June 4, 2011) Sailors assigned to the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS William P. Lawerence (DDG 110) run aboard to man the rails and bring the ship to life during the ship's commissioning ceremony. The new destroyer honors the late Vice Adm. William P. Lawrence, a naval aviator who served as a test pilot and endured 6 years as a prisoner of war in Vietnam. KANDAHAR, Afghanistan (June 4, 2011 Seabees assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalions (NMCB) 26 and 1 listen to range safety instructions before a crew served weapons familiarization training exercise at the Tarnak Weapons Range. NMCB-1, from Gulfport, Miss., is relieving NMCB-26, a reserve component battalion from Harrison, Mich., in June as one of two Seabee battalions deployed to Afghanistan under Task Force Overlord. The 25th Naval Construction Regiment, from Gulfport, Miss., is the command and control element for Task Force Overlord, which is responsible for construction engineering and engineering support in southern, southwestern and western Afghanistan.
