Much of the resentment comes not so much from the actual bases themselves by rather the few high profile cases that happened in the past where US military personnel were involved in several criminal activities including the rape and murder of a young Japanese girl.

PACIFIC OCEAN (Feb. 26, 2011) A Scan Eagle Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) makes an arrested recovery on the Skyhook recovery system aboard the amphibious dock landing ship USS Comstock (LSD 45). Scan Eagle is a runway independent, long-endurance, unmanned aerial vehicle system designed to provide multiple surveillance, reconnaissance data, and battlefield damage assessment missions.
