US commandos capture 4 suspected pirates in raid

By The Associated Press

Sunday, March 6, 2011 at 8:38 a.m.

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — Anti-piracy officials say U.S. commandos have captured four suspected pirates who boarded a Japanese-owned oil tanker off the coast of Oman.

A statement by the international anti-piracy task force says the 24 crew members on the MV Guanabara took refuge in a protected part of the vessel after reporting they were under attack Saturday.

A special unit from the destroyer USS Bulkeley boarded the tanker Sunday and detained the suspected pirates about 328 nautical miles southeast of Duqm in southern Oman.

The statement said no shots were fired and the merchant crew was not harmed.

The Bulkeley is part of an Bahrain-based multinational flotilla fighting piracy from Somalia.

That's pretty generous, sports drinks cost 4,5 times as much as regular bottled water.

Anyways, back to topic.

I guess US would probably send much more help in the coming weeks. Curious to see if this would win the hearts of the Japanese people, whether if they are going to let easy on the issue of Futenma military base.

BZ The US Navy 7th Fleet for the immediate response and in a big way to help Japan in its hour of need. The USN presence in these waters is a blessing and always welcomed. The Navy also provided valuable assistance during the Indonesian Tzunami.

I guess you missed the photo of the water bottles...Those drinks are more than likely from the ships store on the "Double R"(CVN 76). And more than likely a donation by the ship to the people of Japan.

The US DoD better do something because it appears the move of 8,000 Marines to Guam will be delayed up to 5 years...Why?? no money.
