Yesterday was the 71st anniversary of the launch of the USS Missouri. Here are some famous pictures of her.

Here is a GREAT video of the JS Izumo, DDH-183, leaving on sea trials. I place it here on the US Navy thread because you will see, early in the video, a US Navy Burke class DDG moving from left ot right in the foreground.

I would have loved to be on that Burke.

Izumo, DDH-183 was launched in 2013 and is expected to be commissioned in March. The second, DDH-184, is building now and expected to be launched in August of this year.

No need to be sorry...you are exactly right.

The Japanese surrendered in August...but the official signing of documents there on the Missouri was September 2nd just as you say.

Good catch and I will make sure to correct.
