Colonel
It's Fleet Week in NYC. The USN has not posted many photos. I'm hoping a carrier is available to participate. Maybe an LHD. It's been several years since a CVN has been to Fleet Week in NYC.

USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71) is at sea in the Atlantic near the Virginia Capes at this time. Maybe she will make an appearance in NYC Fleet Week..

edit... nope no CVN or LHD this year...that is weak!

I agree! Fleet Week without the flat tops would be a huge dissapointment to many! Well at least the Blue Angels will be there. They're always a crowd pleaser.

I fired one of these puppies (M116 75mm Pack Howitzer) before for ceremonial purposes of course. Its loud and requires a lot of maintenance. After use you have to clean it and apply axle grease to it so it won't rust. When ready to use you have to remove all the grease from all the parts, before fire it. That old dude is pretty strong to pull the string connecting the trigger firing mechanism like that! The M116 howitzer is not easy to fire. You basically have to wrap the string around your thigh and lean away (parallel to the gun) to trigger it.
