I read it up on this modeling kit site and one of the members were explaining how it's done. Pretty neat. And that's how I found those images. Maybe you can help me research some more. To be honost I've never seen Chinook blade folded like that before, but when the air is still man those things can hang really low almost touching the ground (like two or one feet).

Equation those photos are of the Eisenhower in 1994. IKE & America were outfitted with US Army helos for a possible invasion of Haiti.

In September 1994, IKE and the U.S. Army 10th Mountain Division made history with the concept of “adaptive force packaging.” The division’s soldiers and equipment were loaded on board, and the IKE Army and Navy team headed for Port-au-Prince to spearhead Operation Uphold Democracy, the U.S.-led effort to restore the democratically elected government of Haiti.

You are welcome! I found a few photos of the ships with US Army helos during Operation Uphold Democracy. I'll post them later in the Aircraft carrier thread.

p.s....You are about the same age as my oldest son.;)

IMHO, he should have gotten a Naval Cross or Silver Star.

I know they are not considering it "combat," so I understand...but that night on the gangplank, when the bullets were flying, it was sure enough combat for those involved...and he was protecting shipmates and a US warship from an enemy.
