The War in the Ukraine

Senior administration officials told The New York Times on Wednesday that the U.S has provided intelligence to Ukraine’s armed forces and that it has been used to help kill Russian generals who have died during the country’s ongoing war.
Ukrainian officials have combined location details from the U.S. plus their own intelligence to conduct strikes that have helped kill members of the Russian forces.
The sources would not reveal to the Times how the U.S. has gleaned its intel on the location of Russian troops, but the newspaper noted it has used secret and commercial satellite images as some of its sources.

Well, we are hear that the Ukraine is in the midst of its 4th Mobilisation.
Do we have any estimates as to how many are now under arms and do we have any information as to the overall deployment of Ukrainian forces?

My understanding is that the Russian side is operating with the same number of forces and Battle Groups that it started with in February (plus some extra Chechen National Guardsmen) or have I missed something significant?

There is also info about the US expanding its training program of Ukrainian forces on using western military equipment. Russia is going for a Soviet Union - Afghanistan rerun the longer this drags on

The U.S. military is ramping up its weapons training for Ukrainian forces, with hundreds now being trained on artillery systems, drones and radars, defense officials said Wednesday.
The effort, which involves taking Ukrainians out of their country to train at multiple locations in Europe, has picked up significantly after the Pentagon in early April revealed it trained about a dozen such troops on how to use Switchblade drones.
Now, more than 220 Ukrainians have been trained on U.S. artillery, particularly the M777 Howitzer, a 10,000-pound system that can be towed by vehicles and hit targets up to 18 miles away with 155 mm rounds. Washington has promised 90 such systems to Kyiv.
Another 20 Ukrainian soldiers on Sunday finished a week-long training course on the newly developed Phoenix Ghost unmanned aerial system, 121 of which are being sent to Ukraine.
“And there’s more of that coming,” a senior U.S. defense official said Monday, noting that another 50-plus Ukrainians would arrive at one of the sites to begin their training later this week.
“We are running them through a streamlined course here on the new equipment that they’ll be receiving. The goal in all of this is to get them back as soon as possible, so that then they can train others within their army on the equipment,”

Russians keep same number active even if those BTG's have suffered heavy casualties.

This is one of the fundamental reasons why I absolutely detest the Zelensky regime - they are wasting the lives of their own servicemen without any care or regard.

I can respect stubborn resistance in the face of impossible odds, but I have zero respect for sociopaths who wastes the lives of brave soldiers like it’s just Monopoly money.

Had the Taliban been as stupid they would never have had a prayer. And when you are worse than the Taliban, you really need to take a long hard look at what you are doing.

I knew Zelensky was a total idiot and a monster from the offset when he banned any fighting age males from leaving the country.

andom men off the street, giving them minimum training, a rifle with hardly any ammo and marching them towards the enemy is revisionist Hollywood bad, as not even the Soviets under Stalin stoped so low, and is just mass murder with extra steps.

Little wonder most of the foreign volunteers rabbited when they realised just what they signed up for. Ukrainians don’t have that luxury.

The Russians are now taking advantage of this Hollywood trash-grade strategic thinking and happily sitting back and chilling as Zelensky feeds more and more men into their Donbas meat grinder.

It was and continue to be folly to meet the Russians on the open field, yet this is precisely what Zelensky is doing, because he thinks he is winning based on Twitter and Reddit. It would be funny if it wasn’t so tragic with such horrendous costs in needlessly wasted human lives.
