I guess they might also plan to take the coastline. I plotted range of some possible Ukrainian strike weapons to Snake Island. As seen the MLRS and Switchblades are coming from a relatively small plotline of coastal area, where Town of Vilkovne is. If Russians managed to secure Vilkovne, then it will put Switchblades and MLRS out of options. Only Tochka or TB-2's having the range for snake island aside from aircrafts or helos. which means putting some heavier system e.g Buk-M3 or even S-300 become feasible as risk of getting saturated by artillery are minimized. Those two will then provide ABM coverage for any Russian forces there from Tochka strike.

Town of Izmail is a special concern as it apparently have an airstrip. The TB-2 that previously strike Snake Island apparently take off and controlled from there.

Amphibious landing to take coastline? Isn't this pretty far from their southern front and right next to western border where Ukraine is getting supplies and reinforcement from? I donno man....

Edit: Also I wonder about the value of snake island itself (including the coastal region around it), sure if they put S-300/S-400 on it they could control a considerable air space but it still won't reach Poland border so it is useless for air corridor disruption.

Unless Russia plan to take the entire region as part of their war goal? Or block Ukraine from giving it away to NATO?

As far as I can tell, Russia has difficulty with donated Soviet hardware and not-super-modern missiles/artillery/drones/armoured vehicles. Imagine if NATO trained and donated high end air defense systems, fighters, MBTs, cruise missiles, drones... Ukraine likely stalemate the war if that occurred.

The previous Afghan government had "high end" Western military equipment. How did that work out for them?

NATO is supplying Ukraine with Soviet equipment because that's what the Ukrainian soldiers were trained to operate.

But russia is using soviet gear as well and can't fasten the operation because of civilians or else they would be dropping FOABs they have modern equipment to But wont use it on Ukrainians like I don't don't see any nato equipment outranging the coalition-sv howitzer.

It's the Russian way of thinking. They just give zero fxcks about losses and keep pushing. Think how badly WW2 started for Russia and how it ended. Compared to that any difficulties Russia has had in this war are a minor speedbump.

I do think it's possible that they could push to France if they wanted to, they'll have to absolutely destroy Europe.

Thing is, most of this equipment is designed to be used by trained professional troops and takes a long time to achieve a minimum of proficiency. Shoving such equipment into the hands of conscripts and people whose previous experience handling weapons were old AKM or outdated T-64, while it might slow the russians down, it will make the Saudis' use of M1's look like a properly trained army.
