I had to wait for the enemy artillery to zero in, then use the trajectory of the shells to determine their position and transmit it to my own artillery to engage them before they fired from all guns. M777 does not have to zero in, because the first shot is on target.

But as someone its not M777 that is magic, it’s the Excalibur round. But even then, it’s not a significant increase in capability over Krasnopol besides range. Of course future supply of Krasnopol is not forthcoming, so the importance is more about supply.
