Well if it's Ukraine then it will be based on Ukraine itself. Unless for some reason it can be operated from NATO base without Russian AEW or intelligence assets knowing it.

Any airbase in Ukraine would get saturated by cruise missiles. They would have to operate from Poland with aerial refueling. F-16 doesn't have enough range to reach Donbas from Poland.
They dont have to. and it seems not all airbases in Ukraine got rain of cruise missiles. Uzhorod International seems to still safe so far. Also it can be expected that the F-16 may takeoff from unconventional runaway like highway.
True. The US would have to be willing to spend trillions of dollars to support F-16s in Ukraine with fuel, spare parts, missiles. And that is not at all guaranteed. Biden won't survive 2024 election. Trump is buddy buddy with Putin and is widely expected to be the new president. There won't be any support for Ukraine once Trump is president.

Me too and im curious if the missile is actually a Kh-101 not Kalibr.
Seems that either :
1. 2x missiles one flies high and intercepted while lower one actually penetrates
2. The SAM's got jammed with false target.
Giving context to the image, we could ask ourselves, what is the point of impacting a square?
