The War in the Ukraine

It seems the US will supply Patriot PAC 3 and / or THAAD to the Kiev regime. If they do, I think Russia will use Su-57 to hit them with anti radar missiles. Su-57 has very low RCS and practically impossible to lock on from a long distance away.

The US plans to announce as soon as this week that it has purchased an advanced, medium-to-long range surface-to-air missile defense system for Ukraine, a source familiar with the announcement tells CNN

Are you guys sure it is an American system? Why would they need to purchase an air system to ship to Ukraine if it’s one of their own systems.

Dear Putin,

Please be gentle on Patriot or THAAD if they show up, do your CAESAR magic on them if possible. PLA would pay a lot of money for examples of those.
Yeah not really, they freaking lost to older gen export SAMs from China already in tests before.

China can always stand to gain a little bit by taking in weapon systems to use for OPFOR training, but these SAMs won't be a bigger game changer than Ukraine's own S300PMUs.

An easier solution is keep hitting Ukraine's one and only oil refinery at Kremenchuk and make sure it's not working. And keep hitting Ukraine's fuel depots. No fuel means Patriot PAC 3 and whatever else diesel fuel war machine cannot move. It leads to Ukraine's agricultural failure because no more fuel to run tractors and causes famine but depopulation is more subtle as people flee Ukraine due to hunger.
I was under the impression said refinery was already totaled, leading to Ukraine having fuel shortages already.

Honestly in order for Russia to win, they just need to keep attritioning Ukraine down. Once enough gaps are filled by completely unmotivated and weak conscripts, the whole front will quickly implode.

What Ukraine really needs is to pull back to defensible areas, but this might already be impossible due to fuel shortages and Russia controlling major roads through the air. At this point, the AFU needs to fight like the PVA, outmanuever blocks of Russian troops using night/terrain and use artillery and mortars, which would be the 2 equipment they need the most.

But this type of strategy demands a highly professional army, the one true equipment Ukraine needs the most is skilled infantrymen.

What is really telling negatively about Ukraine's situation is how we hear very very little about partisans in Russian captured territory helping Ukraine in the war. Fighting on land they're outgunned on and unloved by the locals, there isn't anything they can do. While they still had many professional troops, they likely should have withdrawn from the Donbass. But as often in far right regimes, nationalist politicians blocked military decisions that would have led to losing face.

Even so it would be worth having a close look at them in preparation for Taiwan and Guam, might still learn a thing or two as well. THAAD particularly, even if it turns out to be worse than HQ-19.

Let's put aside the fact that AA systems would require a lot more training than even the most complex artillery systems. Weren't Patriots and THAAD such a limited resource just last year that the US was stripping the Middle East and upsetting a whole bunch of people to strengthen their presence in the Pacific? I wonder what area are they going to strip of air defences in order to supply the Ukraine.

Well, they can just transfer one they already deployed in Poland haha.

Regardless of any shortcomings of it compared to S-300's it remains a serious threat particularly if PAC-2 or PAC-3 is deployed. think i posted before.. that if Deployed in Odessa along with harpoon it can threaten Russian AEW and may deny early warning against low flying and relatively low RCS Harpoon.

That's just 2 batteries. 16 launchers - how long do you think will those last? Compare that to the estimated 100 batteries of S-300 (granted, most of them probably made of rust) which Ukraine supposedly had before the war...

And we would be completely defenceless! What do, grandpa Biden?

Well that depends on how competent they're trained for it. Ukraine has done well so far with Emcon to hide whatever remaining from their Air defense. as we see Ru Mod Briefing on S-300 or Buk Battery blown so late.

Patriot may last just as long as they maintain same amount of discipline.
