South Korean intelligence is confirming it...

Regarless of whether it ends up being false or true in general, there is nothing thrustworthy of South Korean intelligence when it comes to North Korea. They are the ones who gave the world nutjobs like Yeonmi Park

If it becomes true, where do you think the NKs might go? I bet, maybe Kursk? It might be called that they are doing a counterterrorism operation in the Russian region.
No, within Russia proper they can simply call up conscripts so there is no need for such a substantial force of foreign soldiers. I believe they will first be mixed with Russian forces at the front to familiarise with modern battlefield conditions, then ultimately be allotted their own space to manage if deemed self sufficient. NK troops might be more ready for current fighting than one might think, since they would've trained for large scale back and forths over the DMZ.

On the flip side, this could also mark the entry of SK into the war as a large scale supplier to Ukraine, which they have so far refrained from doing so.

I don't get it. Even if there are NK soldiers fighting, so what? How is that different from the "NATO legion" fighting on the other side? Aside from, you know, the North Koreans being actually competent vis-a-vis reddit suicide squad?

speaking Korean does not confirm they're North Korean!

To be fair I am a rather unique specimen, but most of my relatives don't speak Korean. In fact, we communicate almost exclusively through Russian. I'd say the possibility of N. Koreans fighting for Russians is reasonably high, though I would speculate that it's actually N. Korea who wanted their troops to be sent to the front rather than Russia requesting manpower.

I initially thought it was just another puff piece by SK media, but it seems to be the real deal from recent footage uploaded on social media.

In Kursk, so they will man/protect Russia border ? If they don't go into Ukraine I don't see it like a big deal but if they do... it's another thing. But 2600 is probably less than ''mercenaries'' on the Ukrainian side anyway.
