Maybe the pr stunt is assassination:

I wonder if the Russian authorities and their propagandists will continue to say that "nothing happened"... all good, all good

They will. So does the Ukrainians. You will keep seeing them bloating the amount of interception of Russian missiles.

The only issues is people parroting those claims with straight face.

That seems like a pretty modern Russian surface-to-air missile system. Was this likely just a case of Ukraine launching enough ATACMS to overwhelm the SAMs ability to defend?

Well saturation can be the case. as decoys will typically be employed. Or what people rarely asking, whether the battery really emitting/radiating in the first place.

Just because a radar is erected doesnt mean it's actively emitting/searching for targets. The radar component for SAM is powered by diesel or gas turbine generator, this needs fuel. Thus a battery cannot really run 24/7. The S-300/400 brochure actually listed this information, this one is for S-300V/VM

As seen they cannot run indefinitely.

This is for S-400's firing element

Notice the additional 2 hours of operation. It is of course can be more depending on the remaining fuel of the battery.

The role of NATO Surveillance is to provide the information of when the battery goes offline and when it's up. This observation is repeated to gain a full "schedule" or attempt to match with Russian schedule (yes they may activate or deactivate battery on random fashion to confuse Intelligence attempt).

The Ukrainians can then pick the most suitable time to attack. Which apparently what happened.

The Russians played the same game.
