The War in the Ukraine

The change of pace is definitely showing how this war will evolve. From bombing kiev into electric blackouts to bombing russian strategic aviation 700km from ukraine border. Next year crimea will be retaken and then in the following year after that the donbass republics. I give this war two more years. Nothing indicate that russia can establish offensive operations needed to take further territories, they just statically defend risking the catastrophe to happen where ukrainians pierce through their defenses and repeat the kharkiv/kherson pockets. We might see a minor victory/victories just before putin elections in march 2024, but that's all. Ultimaetely he will be blamed for this blunder.

Many have noted that Russian air defences used only AA guns against drone attack, meaning they probably don't have SAM protection in most distant bases, or maybe there was but eveything has been send to Ukraine. Russians emptied Finnish border from long-range SAM's so they've most likely dome same elsewhere too.

We'll see if Ukraine begings striking against Russian electricity infra as winter comes.

Obtf Kaskad methodically takes four vehicles here with ATGMs, some on night vision. Other vehicles seen not moving on the road were already dead, perhaps victims of the same unit in an earlier time.

Nona-S scores a vehicular kill around Klesheevka. These vehicles particularly favored by the VDV.

Russian FPV drone attacks an Oshkosh M-ATV.

Two Ukrainian sabotage groups landing in the right side of the Dniepr River got drone spotted and were accurately hit by artillery.

Two AFU tanks destroyed in Avdiivka after being spotted by UAVs.

This bit of news wasn't covered until now. On August 18, two FAB-500 bombs hit an AFU field hospital in Zaporzhyzhia and destroying it.

For a base housing multiple strategic aircrafts its baffling they didnt have missile AA and CIWS. What we saw were most likely shots from zu-23 or similar platforms or even small arms fire. Russia is looking terribly incompetent here, if they didn't anticipate ukraine having such capabilities then it tells about the quality of russian intelligence services. Unless the attack was indeed from nato member territory, then the lack of air defense can be explained because russians knew that ukrainian drones had no range to fly there or radar RCS being high enough to warrant detection. Anyway, poor look for Russia, and the war starts to look like a proper peer-to-peer confrontation where both sides attack their rear. Due to vast geography, Russia can't just move forces from other military districts to support their ukraine endeavour, so all these claims of russia having superior forces are null until total war is declared from Russia which would mobilize all other military districts and leave only token border forces on the borders[a risky proposition], or increase conscription and form new units, but then question arises, where will Russia find equipment to make all these new mechanized brigades? The only real and accessible advantage russia have is tactical nuclear weaponry but this is another pandora box to open. We could expect west to supply ukraine with MRBMs and eventually tactical nukes too if russia used them first.

Nothing new about the so called Ukrainian advances currently being spammed on western media. They have been claiming to have taken Robotyne for a week now..

I found this interesting:
He described how one group of 31 Ukrainian fighters had "literally crawled on their stomachs through kilometres of minefields", eventually making it possible for a brigade to retake Robotyne.

In other words they haven't been able to clear the minefields, and the "liberation" was done by light infantry only. There's zero ability for them to hold onto the territory.

It's no different to that recent raid into Crimea the Ukrainians did.
