The War in the Ukraine

Are they blowing positions to make it easier to come back and retake Bakhmut ??? It will make rebuilding easier... or they try to trap Wagner troops?

If they continue defending, where they will go after blowing them up ?

There could be all sorts of reasons why they would blow up high rises near the city edge before pull out.

The most obvious is to deny them as high vantage point observation and firing platforms for the Russians to use against the next line of defence.

Depending on the local topography, they could also be trying to clear the sight lines of their own positions on nearby hilltops and other high ground deeper into the city so they can try and call fire missions on the Russians more effectively when they take the city.

They could also be blowing those buildings as good old distractions to draw Russian drones and other ISR focus to those areas while their troops try to sneak out from another vector.

More gruesome reasons might be that they are dumping their VIP dead in there and then collapsing the building on top of them to prevent the Russians from identifying them. Certainly a more dignified and less moral sapping method than chopping off heads and hands from your own fallen.

There is also video of of Lancet strike on Zu-23-2 in what looks like same area(with Zu trying to shot down Lancet).

If you summ all recent videos. It seems that with massive attack of Lancets they managed to take out full S-300 battery even with short range air defense of Gepard and ZUs killing those too during attack. Which do raise question about what actually can be done vs such type of UAVs. Really impressive.

Might be a bit premature to draw too broad a conclusion just yet since all of these hits are from two or three engagements.

Catching a whole S300 battery is a huge win for the Russians, but it’s far too early to say if this is an early sign of more successful DEAD tactics/EW equipment/ISR etc or if it’s just a stroke of great good fortune that they had enough lancets close enough to react to the discovery of the battery before it redeployed out of range.

Fair, although ukranians have been saying for some one or two months that Russians do more SEADs in general.

Anyway, Lancet hits of this morning:

Devastating loss. This is the most important part of their defense network and not replaceable by western aid.

If they haven't got missiles left then it is irrelevant.

Most likelly they pulling closer to the frontline the leftover air defence units, to inflict the maximum losses on the aircrafts , rather than to waste the last load of missiles for a few geran.

And , most likelly , the used missiles are the very bottom of the barrel, means even the launch would be not safe.

If there was a priority list to use up the misisles then the ones that are in so bad shape they can explode during handling/launch must be the very last loading of the launchers.

Obtf Kaskad takes out two Ukrainian radars via drones.

Footage of S300 launcher taken out by Lancet now online

Russian APC flying the Jolly Roger followed by a UR-77 attack on Ukrainian positions.

A Wagner T-90M firing inside Bakhmut and a footage of a building being blown up, which I suspect is a FAB hit and not by the tank.
