Not every day do you see a T-90 left at a truck stop in Louisiana ...

Would have been a nice asset for Ukrainian army... but if they want some ammo they need to give some loot.
I have some questions… Are those smoke grenade launchers live? Is the ERA still active? Has the barrel been blocked or welded shut? Does it have a functioning engine? Can you turn it on in its current state?

Like the pictures show you can actually access the inside of the tank (which looks rough)! Why would anybody leave that uncovered?

The fact that it was left as is, makes me wonder if it was actually illegally brought into the country?

If it was working, it would had successfully retreated already. Russians tend to leave behind damaged things and have recovery vehicles pick them up later. Tank is probably captured by the Ukrainians during the retreat from Izyium. It would have to be obtained from the Ukrainians. It's possible that after the US studied it, the tank is not in a working order to be sent back to Ukraine or the Ukrainians have trouble fixing it.

On a separate note, document leaker has been captured.

During WW2, US brought back an abandoned Japanese Zero fighter plane and made extensive study on its strength and weakness. From that study they managed to come up with a better American fighter plane that was better the the Zero.

Same for this T-90. And the condition of this T-90 should be as it is when seized by Ukrainian. And it is not illegal but brought in by US military. They will repair the tank and run it all over to find its strength and weakness as in Zero's case.

Can't wait to see captured Leopard 2 and Abrams paraded in Moscow. Perhaps Russia could send some of them to China to be studied.

Dude T-90 is available for exports. It is not mysterious. Plenty of T-80U and T-72 to study owned by Ukraine and T-90 is not much better.

The export versions are gimped so there is still value in studying the domestic version. The T-80Us in Ukraine are nothing special anymore, plenty of US allies have analyzed or used it e.g. South Korea.

Obtaining a T-90 sample at this point still has value even if just to track the progress of Russian improvements or simply as another T-90 sample to cross-reference.

Same hull mildly better turret, same tech level as T-80U. Lame as hell. T-90M however would be interesting. Ukraine did capture few of those.

Second are you sure about the gimping? T-90 was sold for export before adopted. This was in a time Russia sold T-80U their best tank at the time. They also sold their fucking country but that is another topic.
