The War in the Ukraine

"Russia’s defence ministry says it has killed six hundred fighters after bombing Ukrainian positions overnight"

Yesterday, Alex Mer. said he heard the Russians launched a heavy missile bombardment overnight targeting more centres/places than any previous period. I wonder if the intensifying scale of attacks mean a major move is about to happen.

This is about fires. It is pretty much confirmed at this point that they are being done by anti-government factions. There is a lesson for China here. China does not have as big of an opposition but it will have to protect buildings that could be attacked. The CPC militia can be very useful at that.
Security agencies, PAP and the various national agencies/intelligence in China should take care of it.

Although its likely a few attacks will still happen.

"The world has also seen how poorly Russian helicopters fare against modern, man-portable air defense systems (MANPADS), through countless videos of them being shot down by shoulder-fired missiles in the hands of Ukrainian soldiers."

You heard it here first, western helicopters are inmune to MANPADS, somehow.

Western helicopters never been under multiple salvos of MANPADS distributed like candies...

You just look at the night raid on NAJAF, Iraq in 2003, 32 AH-64 got fired upon with mostly small caliber rifles and some old 23mm, 1 got downed 31 damaged with a quarter of them discarded beyon repair. In afghanistan mutiple helicopters got shot down, some by RPG and mostly small arms. Imagine if they had MANPADS ?

The Stinger is behind the 9K333 Verba in technological terms. And unlike the US, Russia is still actively producing the Verba.

The Stinger has less range, less ceiling, and a worse sensor (2-channel vs 3-channel).

- counter UAV is a massive issue for both sides. As a drone sitting 5km in front of your position is able to effectively direct artillery while being essentially invulnerable to all but Tor and above grade SAMs.
I've heard that Russians are using jamming devices actively in the Donbas front. Unfortunately for them it's a little too effective...

Russians keep same number active even if those BTG's have suffered heavy casualties.
Not at full strength is a bit of a sweet nothing. To learn that a combat unit that has been in active combat for over two months is not at "full strength" is hardly a revelation.
We need a that figure qualified and at least averaged across the board.

Interested to know about Recruitment in Russia at the moment. The number of volunteers to join up the Professionals, always jumps in most countries when there is a conflict.

This is one of the fundamental reasons why I absolutely detest the Zelensky regime - they are wasting the lives of their own servicemen without any care or regard.

I can respect stubborn resistance in the face of impossible odds, but I have zero respect for sociopaths who wastes the lives of brave soldiers like it’s just Monopoly money.

Had the Taliban been as stupid they would never have had a prayer. And when you are worse than the Taliban, you really need to take a long hard look at what you are doing.

I knew Zelensky was a total idiot and a monster from the offset when he banned any fighting age males from leaving the country.

andom men off the street, giving them minimum training, a rifle with hardly any ammo and marching them towards the enemy is revisionist Hollywood bad, as not even the Soviets under Stalin stoped so low, and is just mass murder with extra steps.

Little wonder most of the foreign volunteers rabbited when they realised just what they signed up for. Ukrainians don’t have that luxury.

The Russians are now taking advantage of this Hollywood trash-grade strategic thinking and happily sitting back and chilling as Zelensky feeds more and more men into their Donbas meat grinder.

It was and continue to be folly to meet the Russians on the open field, yet this is precisely what Zelensky is doing, because he thinks he is winning based on Twitter and Reddit. It would be funny if it wasn’t so tragic with such horrendous costs in needlessly wasted human lives.
Do we actually know if this is what is indeed happening?
TO me it would make more sense to send these conscripts to the rear echelons and free up more professionals and reservists to go to the front.
Then again, if you are counting on massive infusions of modern NATO heavy weapons and you need the time to train up your best to operate them competently, you may simply need fodder to literally clog up the front lines and keep them as near static as possible while your "New Model Army" is being trained up.

Why exactly they do need this mobilisation is a mystery to me. Surely they have enough pro's and reservists in the field already?
Old men and boys are what you call up when everything is gone and you are facing overwhelming odds.

Correct me if I am wrong, but is not the actual Ukrainian Military over quarter of a million strong without counting the National Guard, Border Force and Reservists?
