N.Korea warns it could turn Seoul into 'sea of flame'
By Park Chan-Kyong (AFP) – 15 hours ago
SEOUL — North Korea Saturday threatened to attack loudspeakers set up to broadcast South Korean propaganda and said it could turn Seoul "into a sea of flame" as tensions flared over the sinking of a warship.
The North's General Staff of the Korean People's Army made the threat in response to Seoul setting up the speakers at 11 locations along the tense border to resume anti-Pyongyang broadcasts which have been suspended since 2004.
"The revolutionary armed forces of the DPRK (North Korea) will launch an all-out military strike to blow up the group's means for the psychological warfare," it said in a statement.
"It should bear in mind that the military retaliation of the DPRK is a merciless strike foreseeing even the turn of Seoul, the stronghold of the group of traitors, into a sea of flame," it said.

The installation of the loudspeakers amounted to "a direct declaration of a war" and a "flagrant violation" of the inter-Korean declaration for peace and reconciliation signed in 2000, the North's statement went on.
"Therefore, the revolutionary armed forces of the DPRK will launch an all-out military strike to blow up the group's means for the psychological warfare," it said.

On Friday, the North warned of "merciless" measures against the South for referring to the UN Security Council to censure the communist state over the sinking.
Poor China Military Ties Hurt North Korea Plans, U.S. Says
June 10, 2010, 6:07 AM EDT
June 10 (Bloomberg) -- Strained ties between the U.S. and Chinese militaries are holding back a “more robust” discussion of how to plan for a possible collapse of the North Korean regime, U.S. Ambassador to China Jon Huntsman said.
“We could have a more robust discussion on this subject, without question, if we had mature military-to-military ties,” Huntsman said in an interview with Bloomberg Television in Beijing today. “This is one reason why it would be good to have more military-to-military contact.”

Huntsman said China’s stance toward North Korea before a possible vote by the United Nations Security Council on a measure condemning the sinking may follow its stance on Iran. China voted for sanctions yesterday after months of deliberation. ...

Probe concludes torpedo sank South Korea ship: report
Thu, May 6 2010
SEOUL (Reuters) - Investigators probing the deadly sinking of a South Korean navy ship in March near the North have concluded that a torpedo was the source of an explosion that destroyed the vessel, a news report said on Friday.
The team of South Korean and foreign investigators found traces of explosives used in torpedoes on several parts of the sunken ship as well as pieces of composite metal used in such weapons, South Korea's Yonhap news agency said quoting a senior government official.
South Korean officials have not officially accused the North but made little secret of their belief Pyongyang deliberately torpedoed the 1,200-tonne corvette Cheonan in March near their disputed border in retaliation of a naval firefight last year.
The metallic debris and chemical residue appear to be consistent with a type of torpedo made in Germany, indicating the North may have been trying to disguise its involvement by avoiding arms made by allies China and Russia, Yonhap quoted the official as saying.
North Korea has denied involvement and accused South Korean President Lee Myung-bak's government of trying to use the incident for political gains ahead of local elections in June.

How clever that the North Koreans laced their torpedo with German parts to make it look like a German torpedo yet only those materials were recovered. It probably would've been more believable for them to say the North Koreans got their hands on a German torpedo but I guess that doesn't sound as insidiously evil.
Newest update:
I've just read news on mingpao stating that a high-ranking NK official who'd defected lately claimed that the truth to Kim's early return home after his meeting with Wen was over a failed talk regarding getting J-10s. Kim wanted to get J-10s to become the backbone of NK's air force because he felt uneasy after the sinking of the SK warship, fearing a military retaliation by the SK and US.
If the news sources and information are correct, this meant that NK most likely is really behind the sinking of the warship, or he might have felt(if it's a conspiracy), the next phase will be retaliations.
At second thought, if this news source was leaked by China, then it might be false, and to tell others of China's neutral stance in this incident, but also warning others beforehand, that while China will be neutral and remain as the mediator, should they initiate an attack on NK, China will be there to back NK. The idea being to warn others "Let's solve this without fists, but if you wanna play it hard, we're ready to roll."
Either way... haha wanna get J-10s from China? What's Kim been smoking lately? Does he really think China is in support of his regime? He stirred up so much shit and he expects China will sell them high-tech stuff? He can't even prove to be responsible for his own domestic stuff at the very basic lol
