The Q-5, J-7, J-8 and older PLAAF aircraft

this wing is pretty diffrent from j-7e double delta. Previous wing was basically a cranked delta, this one is more alike to f-16's design. Almost as if the front part is lerx, then a larger part being the wing itself.

The curved wing design is very pleasing to the eyes. Much better than the double delta design, which was a great improvement aerodynamically over the original single delta design.

Probable provide more lift and a better angle of attack.

Well considering it appears to be a JL-9 derivative it will be powered by a variant of the Guizhou Liyang WP-13F(C) Turbojet. FTC-2000G appears to be a more combat orientated aircraft then the JL-9, I think there would be a market for it. Fact is the J-7 has still be finding a market until recently with new examples in final testing for delivery to a customer within the last few months (Bangladesh).

Not every country is interested in a fancy jet with a complex computerised maintenance system. FTC-2000G will have a simple aluminium structure, simple radar and simple turbojet. Good place holder until better units arrive, as an aggressor squadron or point defence aircraft.

One question we could always ask is what other aircraft could the FTC-2000g compete against and possibly win:

1) A Mig-21 yes
2) A Mig-23 possibly yes since Egyptian Mig-21’s beat Libyan Mig-23’s
3) Mirage III yes
4) Mirage V yes
5) Mirage F-1 probably yes, since Cuban Mig-23’s did well against South African Mirage F-1
6) Mig-19, yes due to the limited BVR in The FTC
7) F-5E probably a draw

This would be the FTCs replacement market. Given the use of AWAC in conjunction the FTC-2000 might improve its limited odds against other types.

FTC-2000G will always remain just a model. Zero chance. The cost for modifying J-7G to FTC-2000 will not be cheap plus it lack any future upgrade potential. In my opinion, the JL-10(L-15) will be the cheaper alternatives with upgrade potential.

Could very well be so, just like the J-7MF with the under belly intake. I was a great model, but no prototype. However, do you see the L-15 filling the same roll as the F-5E did with the T-38?

Yes. For countries with lower budget. It's a great idea. Just like how Philippine airforce and Indonesian airforce going for T-50A. It can be convert into fighter if neccessary. Of cos, they are not to match real fighter like f-16 blk60, rafale and typhoon but with a bit of Tatic, good deployment and ground advantage. It will give others a run for their money. The biggest advantage is it will be ready to train any new pilot. Saving lots of logistic cost.

Just getting off topic for one question. Have you see the ATG Javelin MK10 trainer. Thee is also a Mk20 and Mk30 with high rated engines. Do you see this aircraft as a potential to be an F-5E replacement?
From what I’ve read the Mk 10 has two 1,700 lbf thrust engines the Mk 30 has two 4,200lbf engines

Status of this project is cancelled. Zero chance.
