There are too few of them ever produced and they have been seldom used by the Russians, to expect to see that. In addition, it is not what the Russians intend with them.

Finally, the cruise speed will be more economical than the maximum sustained speed...count on it.

a little more research, 30-40kt speed is not so much economy speed as sustainable speed with a full load of three MBTs. 55kt is only sustainable with light load.
it is really more like an airplane than a ship. with operational cost and maintenance requirement to match.

Wow...we have talked about this for years, and there has been much speculation.

Now we are actually seeing it unfold before our eyes. And the second looked well along in construction too.

Soon it will be headed for its new home as well.

Interesting – might either be for fitting out with a Chinese weapons and electronics suite at Huangpu, or to join the landing ship squadron at Guangzhou-Huangpu (future PLAN ACV squadron?) – or both.

If I'm some Russian billionaire oligrach I would definitely get myself a Zubr and redo the entire thing in civilian luxury. Why settle for some superyacht when you can have a superhovercraft? :)
Of course the problem would be range.. can't go too far.

Yup! PLAN bought too many white elephant when she was in desperate times during the late 90s and early 2000s.

Now in 2013. Zubr shall become luxury yacht, Sov become CMS cutter and Kilo uses as underwater ferry for tourist. ;)
