iran has done it again, twice in 3 day, very immpresive.
it was long speculated that iran had bought some Shkval missiles from china, but until now it was only just that, speculations. do u belive that this is indeed the Shkval or do u think it is an indigenous design?

this new development will surely make the US think twice about moving some CBG into the persian gulf, don't u think?

shkval missiles from china? do you mean missiles from china (c802?) or shkval torpedos from russia? in any case, USN isn't gonna sail with its carriers into the gulf as long as there's serious danger there. After iranian air force is neutralized, after its fast attack boats are neutralized, then the carrier might get closer, but still out of reach of any coastal anti ship missile launchers. Its not a problem for the carrier to stay 500 km away from the coast and still strike inland. Besides, if it comes to a air caimpagn against iran, i'd think biggest role would be played by usaf, not usn strike planes.

Re: Iran's superweapon

1) i know Shkval it's a torpedo but going at the speed it does i belive it can be considered a underwater missile (it dosen't use a propeller blade like a typical torpedo does) but no problem we can go back to Shkval torpedo.
2)i also know that the Shkval was made by the russians but i also know that the speculations were that the ones iran have where bought from china (which bought them from russia).

just to clear some things up...

SU-34 Iran is already conducting ops against U.S forces. I have friends who have killed Iranians near An-Najaf armed with G-3 rifes which were produced inside of Iran. These Guys were persian and were not Arabs. Also I dont think the middleast can get anymore messy than what it is. We "U.S military" want the islamist to go to Iraq were we can kill them there as opposed to here "U.S mainland.

War is hell but its better to fight overthere than here.....but you are right Iran could increase its activity which would be fine by me. I wish to just go ahead and attack Iran and get it overwith......cheers ute

Iran: High-speed underwater missile test-fired

Yes they've probally been testing something..But do you really think the US will keep it's CSG(Carrier Strike Group) out of the Persian Gulf because Iran says it fired this missile? I think not. There has been a USN presence in the Gulf with a CSG for many years. In fact the USS Ronald Reagan CVN-76 is in the Persian Gulf..right now...

I also would not call anything except for oil and maybe Nuc's "super weapons" iran has. I would call their weapons "minor" to "moderate" pain in the butt weapons.....super weapons....too funny:roll:

google earth areas around that Nuclear plant. check out the Airbase to the north. Cant wait to see the battle damage assement of that area after 25 cruise missiles hit it:nono:

no offense but you going off topic mainly in the political direction, i am not bothered about you advocating war, if you like US war planes in action then its fine by me.

But i do think Iran is over exaggerating their capabilities. this is a double edged sword because there is a group of people advocating war and thus will leap on this missile tests and say ' We should stop them now before they become more powerful' similiar to the claim made by Utelore.

I remember watching a BBC program that stated the US neo conservatives made outlandish claims on USSR weapons such as a 'non acoustic system to detect submarines' when they found no evidence they said the Soviets are good at hiding their shit thus they have it:rofl:

Popeye i am no pro iranian but if a nation in the persian gulf forced the US out then this nation it would be immortalised in history. To me it is a tempting thought if weakening the US position through covert and overt means would b e labeled as a hero. Similiar to G Washington, Winston Churchill, Mao, Stalin etc etc

What sort of history books are you reading?

I will say it again..the US has had forces in the Gulf region for years. Did you know the US has a Navy base in Barhain? Do you really think the US will let a nation force them out of the Gulf? How would they accomplish that? I just do not see it happening. Perhaps you could come up with a sernerio that this would occur.

Sure Iran has weapons. Possible WMD. But do they have enough weapons to maintain a third ,fourth or fifth, etc... strike?

Stalin was a very bad man. Very bad. I hope you do not think of him as a hero.
