It seems the Misurata rebels have taken Tawergha, or at least, making gains into the area. There are even some videos of Misurata based rebels inching closer to Sirte! Now that would be quiet the development if true!

Recently I've gotten access to a lot of first hand info from Libya. This is true, Tawergha is fully in the hands of the rebels. The Misrata rebel units are focusing their energies on Zilten right now, but its slow going. House to house.

Capturing Zliten would be a big boost to the rebels, a lot of people from Zliten would probably join, but as you mentioned earlier that salient could be a liability. In the West the rebels held onto Wazzin after Gaddafi's big offensive got pushed back. What I find interesting is Ajdabiya right now, everybody is saying that rebel forces keep gathering and gathering at Ajdabiya by the day, and that probing scouting parties poke into Brega every once in awhile but still no offensive action...
No media is allowed at the front in Ajdabiya. From what I understand there's miles of trenches and berms on both sides. I suspect the Qaddafi forces have laid large minefield. Probing actions and such happen almost everyday. Also the rebels are training men at the front. And yes, the offensive is coming, I know this for a fact, I even know when, but of course I can't say.
:nana:In other news the French Mistral class LHD Tonnere is off Libya with Tiger attack helis that they are going to start using against ground targets.

As for the Tonnere I read about that to, I wonder where its heading to, Western Libya or Eastern Libya?

French and Britain gonna deploy, will be interesting if any get shot down. The rebels in Iraq deployed SA 7 to shoot down an Apache. I think two were lost to SA 7s?
The French in particular are playing power games in Africa. Ivory Coast and Libya.
The rebels are not that strong, thats why Nato is deploying all available assets to further their aim. Interesting how Gaddafi forces are portrayed as blood sucking vampires by western press, dont they have families too?
Russia and lesser extent China made a mistake by not veto UN resolution.

It's no secret that the West (whom are principle members of NATO as well) wants to get rid of Qaddafi for decades now.
But all in all, this quagmire won't happen in the first place if Qaddafi have moved fast enough and have his army flatten Benghazi before the UN can pass the resolution.

Mutiny in his own armed forces prevented swifter action.
Gaddafi can remain if he hangs on and slowly rebuilds forces into a guerrelia/conventinal force. Libya needs to launch SAS type raids into rebel held areas in the rear to tie down large amounts of their militia. Some evidence they have. All the rebel oilfields in the East have been raided or occupied by Gaddafi troops in pickups. The East has stopped producing oil, relies on imports now.
I think the Algerians and Chadians have been helping the Libyan goverement, but I have no concrete evidence. I even read the battle hardened Polisario Front is aiding Libya against Nato backed Rebels.
