They are unable to, their IQs are not low enough, but they will have a good laugh.
The authorities in Taiwan are about as stupid as the would be soldiers they wish to enlist.
Rather than recruit literal local retards, they ought to hire foreign contractors — especially and — that already possess training, if not combat experience.
Plenty of them have already fought for or are currently fighting for Kiev, and Taipei is in a position to offer comparable compensation with less danger (at least for now).
If and , these professional freedom fighters will also be unable to flee thanks to the PLAN blockade that'll be in place.
Granted, there's a chance they'll switch sides once things go boom, but surely "Taiwanese freedom and democracy" will win over their hearts, minds and loyalties!
Why join the military as cannon fodder when you can immigrate, join the MAGA movement, and boost the average IQ?

Can we state the obvious?: Taiwan will integrate GJSDF personnel into Taiwan's army and we will see from there whether the 4th or 5th Sino-Japanese war will be fought / and how and the current Ukrainian /Russia war has Brits/French/US/Can/NATO members fighting in Ukrainian uniforms-Taiwan and Japan is even more fervent in their China hate.
