I would expect to see the US well Taiwan more offensive weapons in the future. The goal isn’t really to defend Taiwan so much as to cause as much damage to China as possible before they are obliterated.

If and when that happens, it will signal the effective withdrawal of American commitments to fight directly in Taiwan, as that will be as good as admitting the fight is hopeless, and America won’t get involved in wars with major powers unless they are guaranteed to win. To commit to an unwinnable war on the other side of the world would just be stupid.

That's a possibility, depends on how much money taiwanese can burn, and what ace cards mainland hold at that time.

Buying foreign weapons for domestic use is a quite dicey thing.
Directly transplanting modern weaponry would only work if they fit the situation and logistics they have.
They think if they have American weaponry they will fight like how Americans fight in their wars. No they won't, they will fight like regular shitty taiwanese grunts with low morale and poor skills, with some American weapons while it lasts. Just like Indians think they would be fighting like a modern army with imported modern weapons, no they will just fight like regular Indians, with some foreign weapons.

That assumes the Mainland won't pull a page out of Israel's playbook.

Yes that also proves that the US is supporting separatist movements under the disguise of "freedom and democracy".

remember stuxnet?
Mossad also assasinated key Iranian scientists and researchers via car bombs

Stuxnet and assassinations are only slowing down Iranian nuclear advancement. That is a red line China absolutely will not allow Taiwan to even get close to.

China is not going to mess around if Taiwan makes any concrete attempts at obtaining a nuclear weapon. As soon as they even start down that path, it will be full fire and fury reunification.

This Taiwan business. Personally I couldn't give a flying fxxk if they don't want to reunite with China. I'd be happy for them to carry on living in a well. And isolated while the rest of the world moves on with China as a proper country, and ignores Taiwan, or Taiwan just as another province of China.

The only reason get all of us here, and 1.4 billion Chinese get so 'worked up is because U.S. has made it so. They are deliberately up the antics to force China's hand. They want to force China to make a move which would give them the excuse to unite Ruth the other western countries to gang up on china.

So China needs to he smart, and don't fall into that particular trap.

What’s up with these articles lately? Like 5 David Axe articles in one week? One quoting @Denio no less (who doesn’t like war topics).

Lockheed Martin/Raytheon/DPP funded right wing think tanks trying to push Biden into more sales?
