Taiwan aims to upgrade its entire fleet of 144 F-16A / B for 2022. While most aircraft will be updated within the AIDC factory in Taichung, in central Taiwan, some of the devices will be shipped to the United States Lockheed Martin.
Updating F-16:
This update should allow a revaluation of aircraft of type F-16 A / B, in order to bridge the technology gap vis-à-vis the imposing and menacing neighbor China. This has indeed seriously strengthened its position with the posting of the Shenyang J-10 "Dragon Veloce" and the arrival of the Shenyang J-11B (Sukhoi 27 Chinese).
The modernization of F-16 Taiwanese include the addition of a new AESA radar, or the Northrop Grumman APG-83, modernized avionics, cockpit displays any compatible with night vision goggles, a central GPS navigation , a new electronic warfare system type the ALQ-176 coupled with ALQ-184 decoy system (V) 7. in communications devices receive new digital radios and a data link (Link16) improved. Drivers receive a helmet sight for the use of the Raytheon AIM-9X missile "hyper swift" to replace the current AIM-9PM.
Question engine, the Pratt & Whitney F100-PW-220 engines will be brought to the most powerful -229E standard and to reduce maintenance time.
Taiwan provides for the acquisition of a targeting pod, but has so far not specified the model chooses between the AN / AAQ-33 SNIPER or AN / AAQ-28 LITENING oldest.
Regarding weapons, the F-16 will have more AIM-9X AIM-120C7 AMRAAM missiles and a variety of guided weapons ground attack like the GBU-10 Enhanced Paveway II bombs and GBU -56 Laser JDAM.
Pictures of a scale model and computer renderings of a new guided-missile destroyer project for the Republic of China (Taiwan) Navy (ROC Navy) emerged last week in the 中国军事中國軍事武器 (China Military Chinese Weapon) magazine. This new destroyer project is in line with Taiwan's new naval acquisition plan which was unveiled late last year. The new plan called for four new destroyers (among other vessels).
There's no doubt they can build such a design, for they've built an AOR larger than that; neither the fact that it'll only be commissioned during Tsai's 2nd term in office (if things don't come to head in the next 3+ years that is, for Tsai is taking lots of sneaky steps as par to the separatist agenda thus far already), the biggest question is that if Taiwan can cough up that huge sum of budgets for such an ambitious naval modernisation plan.New Guided Missile Destroyer Project for ROC Navy Emerges out of Taiwan
It is possible IF somehow, from somewhere ROC can acquire a gas turbine in the same class as LM2500, the VLS system and missiles, the close-in defense gun (Phalanx from U.S. according to the link), AESA and the main gun. The only thing ROC have that is totally in their own hand is the AsM and. Some of the systems that ROC doesn't have may be quick to develop domestically, but with the knowledge known so far, 3 years are really tight before delivery of the ships.New Guided Missile Destroyer Project for ROC Navy Emerges out of Taiwan
They've OTO Melara 76mm gun and can fabricate stealth turret casing, have "R2D2" (Phalanx CIWS), getting Mk41 VLS and LM2500 shouldn't be problem either, so throw in the AShM / LACM the ROCN pretty much have the weapon system covered; the C4ISR suite can be purchased from the US as well and not likely facing hiccup there. It is possible IF somehow, from somewhere ROC can acquire a gas turbine in the same class as LM2500, the VLS system and missiles, the close-in defense gun (Phalanx from U.S. according to the link), AESA and the main gun.
