Me I don't personally believe this, I wish Taiwan would care more about defense, I'm merely stating the opinion of people I have talked too. Quite a few people I have argued with say its pointless for Taiwan to spend on defence as China has such a large advantage. Also they are Taiwanese, some christian, most non christian. I'd say its about 50% for more military, 50% against. My personal thoughts are for a much more robust military, but political in fighting and mistrust is a large reason for the lack of military support.

And I've been wondering about something, the last military exercise when most of the missiles failed, were those mostly foreign, what was the performance of the local missiles?

It was said that was mainly due to poor signatures of drones used during the drill. These missiles would have been more efficient in a true combat environment.

Now wait a minute...ain't supposed the true combat environment much more tougher than in drills?

And what's the source of that? If that's "media analysis" I suggest you ditch it before it makes you look totally stupid...why? Everybody knows that the Taiwan journalists can't tell the difference between MP-5 and a Uzi, and they classify every SMG as Uzi in their print...if they're that invalid at this skin-deep level, what makes you think they're capable of higher level thinking and analysis? The exception would be those few dedicated military magazines and publications.

:( Huh?! Calm down, okay!? Before treating me as stupid, let me find what was said days after, from officials or politicians commenting the bad results gotten after this drill, in newspapers, on Taiwan TV, aso...

"Poor signature of the drones", so you mean that enemy missiles and aircraft should be easier to shoot down than your target drones?!!

Then you've been told complete nonsense. Shooting down aircraft and missile in combat is a vastly more difficult task than any signature 'minimized' target drone because of ECM and the like.

But now the real question is: how to get new jet fighters. Even the F-16 upgrade is something difficult to obtain by Obama administration. Always postponed...

The best way to get new fighters would be producing something locally, but as stated in this thread time and again, that would be impossible.
