I watched some reruns of Pacific Rim and I think the makers to the supposedly second movie will be thinking hard on how to make their Kaiju look more menacing than the Godzilla one. Looks like we got ourselves some good ole giant monster movie and robots competition.

I just read an article with the head Legendary Pictures talking about the Pacific Rim sequel. He says it's not in the near future. I suppose that's because it didn't do well enough in the US and since it did better in China, they probably want to wait until that box office grows bigger. Guillermo Del Toro has mentioned what the Kaiju in the sequel are going to be. Because the Jaegers beat the aliens' monsters, the next Kaiju coming through the rift are going to be cyborgs.

Frankly I think the Jaegers were too much reliant on melee weapons.

Godzilla was the original Kaiju.... He was just a scout... Mind blown

You build a Robot that rivals a Skyscraper what are you going to arm it with? If Cannons and guns why not just build tanks. If missiles then just mount VLS on buildings.

I agree. They had huge awesome high tech robots. But they never received land or aerial support. Build high altitude fighter bombers to weaken it, from a range. Maybe have a sniper Jaeger with a jaeger sized .50 Cal photon (whatever?) sniper rifle take out it's eyes.

And I agree they relied too much on melee combat, need to do the opposite.

And to reply to Terran_Empire they probably stopped building stationary weapons because I'm sure the Kaiju's destroyed them too much?

My point is A Colossus sized walking humanoid is a poor mounted weapons platform despite the Anime. IT's inefficient. Although the Yaegers used some missiles cannon and energy weapons there main function was to fill the one gap that was not already in human arsenal against Kaiju. Close in kills on a equal footing.

Yeah, the whole movie was kinda flawed. If giant nuclear powered titanium mechs are being destroyed left and right.... Lets stop buying those and encircle every continent or city with a giant "cement" wall. Because that is stronger... Ha even if it did stop the kaiju what were they expecting for the monsters to sit around or go back home? The numbers of monsters would grow outside the walls till they started battering the walls down... How would cities survive? That means no more trade between countries.


Yes, I know this is a Sci-Fi movie, but I love to think about this stuff though haha

Yeah it was kinda foolish but I think it was meant to be a way of Reducing the budget for the movie. The less Yaegers the less expensive and also to up the Tension. I mean if the Two Kaiju showed up in Hong Kong And there was a Dozen Machines looking to slice and Dice.

Fight fans love single digit to single digit fights, It's easier to keep up with the blows but once it's army to army or a dozen on one it's a slaughter and the number of blows and actions is all outta your perspective.
Me though I want to see a Pacific Rim prequel. I want to see the MK1's start to turn the tide and the battle that leads to the decline. It would probably need a series either TV, Streaming or a number of Movies. but I want Pacific Rim: The Kaiju Wars.
