On another note, which Sci-Fi/Fantasy series do you dislike?

I couldn't stand Xena, Hercules, or Andromeda. Maybe I just don't like Kevin Sorbo. Hero also got boring after the first season. I watched a couple of seasons of LOST, but lost interest after a while.

There were two things that turned me off in LOST:

1- Everyone was taking turns punching each other. The final straw for me was when Locke punched Charlie. Seriously, WTF?

2- That con guy. Couldn't stand him, but they just kept putting him in the limelight as part of the love triangle. The chick was seriously hot though. :)

Certainly couldn't be Lucy Lawless...
lets see SF I couldn't stand.
Lost,
Battlestar Galactica remake.
sorry but I just could not stand the twin peaks mind screw of it.
Twin Peaks.
Sanctuary. I love Tapping but it was just to many in jokes. The Batman bust.

Most of the popular TV series now, like Haven, Warehouse 13, etc.

I'm a big fan of Trek, the last sci-fi series i really enjoyed was Caprica. I prefer sci-fi that's either philosophical or didactic in nature, the whole adventure series stuff nowadays is pretty shallow and i can't be bothered to follow them if they're no deeper than a soap opera, same reason i've given up on a lot of comic books as well.

Xena for me was pretty entertaining. Kevin Sorbo as Hercules came at a time when Hollywood started to change how iconic figures real, mythical, or fictional looked in order to fit with the times. He didn't look anything like Hercules portrayed before him. Even the new movie that just came out... now Hercules is blonde.

There are so many science fiction shows these days where now there are just so many bad ones. Over the holidays they played the original V miniseries from the 80s on cable. I remember watching that as a kid and it's still just as good. What was wrong with the TV series remake a few years ago that was lost from the original was regular people made up the resistance who won, lost, and sacrificed. In the remake everyone was like Kevin Sorbo where the resistance was made up of an ideal image. Everyone in the resistance was beautiful and handsome and professional.

He looks like he can play Han Solo to me.

Harrison Ford is old enough to be the father of early thirty twin Jedi’s. Jesse Plemons would be great as Han Solo’s son. He has a similar look and similar voice.

It will be interesting to see who they get to play the sister. She would need to be athletic and believable as a Jedi. Any thougts?

Jennifer Lawrence

She did the Hunger Games, right? She’s a little too pretty, but she looked rough and though in the Hunger Games. Just as long as she does not get a “cinnamon bun” princess Leia hair cut.

PS: You must be a "Dune" fan. Me to.

Now there is a series of books that could be made into a multi movie saga.

If a multi movie saga of Dune was made they should start out in chronological order with “The Butlerian Jihad” and the then the “Machine Crusade”. You could get a good 12 to 15 movies out of it.

They did make 2 Dune movies, Dune and the children of Dune (well mini-series...)

True. However the three pre-Dune books written by Brian Herbert are very good. Almost a mix of Star Wars and Battlestar Galactica. Where the “free humans” are fighting against the “thinking machines”.
