I think the only thing in the Star Wars universe that beats Star Trek tech wise is the Death Star. Everything else from watching... Star Trek tech beats Star Wars tech.

It seems Disney is putting the same formula of the Marvel universe to the Star Wars universe where all their different forms of media will be "connected." My Boba Fett prediction seems more plausible now.

I don't know I think it might be a tie Death Star vs Genesis Device both are planet killers. The Death Star requires you to build a very valuable super laser it's like building a battleship in an age of aircraft carriers.(And if anyone ever read the Star Wars book 'Dark Saber' a stripped down version of the Death Star mainly just FTL and Super Laser it is basically described as a giant light saber in spsce. Also in the books the DeathStar is supposed to have like 6 or 7 Star Destroyers as an escort.) While the Genesis device is a very large space torpedo that is hard to detect and stop.

OH MAY THE FORCE SAVE USE ALL.!

Genesis can create planets but when comes to existing ones it wipes out the surface. The Death Star blows planets up completely.

It’s true…………………………. Han Solo has some inappropriate handling of the Princess Leia. Why wasn’t that cut in the editing room?

Now I am scared for life!

NO what's inappropriate is when Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia open mouth kiss each other (they're brother and sister)...lol! Now that's disturbing!:p

It wipes out the surface of existing planets if it's doing what it's intended to do. Overload it like Khan did, and I think it might be able to destroy it completely as well.

I'm not sure though.

Unless they changed the role for Samuel L Jackson, this story sounds sort of crazy. Tupac as a member of the Jedi Council? I don't follow rap so I only knew of Tupac when he was killed. I know Lucas filmed N'Sync members as Jedi in the background but they weren't given prominent roles and eventually cut from one of the prequels due to the outcry. But this? Part of me says possible but the other part says absurd.

the Genesis device was developed to reformat a planet into a earth clone pure and simple. It would if deployed on a planet with life, Kill all of that life. Rip it to base atoms and then use it to create this earth clone with plant life and limited microbial life.
That's what Spock meant when he and doctor McCoy were in a debate.
McCoy:"My god... To think that we... Suppose this thing were used on a planet where life already existed?"
Spock:" It would destroy such life in favor of it's new matrix."
McCoy"Its new matrix? My god man have you any idea what your saying?"
Spock: "I was not attempting to debate its ethical implications, as a matter of cosmic history, its always been easier to destroy then to create."
McCoy: " Not any more! Now we can do both at the same time! According to Myth the Earth was created in six days, now Watch Out here comes Genesis! We'll do it for you in Six Minutes."
Spock:" really doctor you must learn to govern your passions. Logic suggests..."
McCoy:" My god the Man's talking about Logic, we're talk'en about Universal Armageddon! You green blooded Inhuman..."

(No I did not look that up or re watch the movie I pulled that from my own memory)
its likely that the mechanism at work in Genisis may have involved nanites as that is the only way I can think of to do what it did in such a manner.

imagine for a moment that we have the classic fan battle star wars vs trek with the reliant under Khan attacking the deathstar. Reliant makes a run and fires Genisis at the deathstar. So what happens? Well in our thought experiment the deathstar now undergoes a massive set of changes. The entire structure is ripped apart including droids and storm troops. The grey mass effect is taking place as nanotechnology goes to work using the existing matter to reproduce its self. The mass of the death star is increased as a artificial gravity well draws in more material increasing the mass to earth equivalent
the nanittes at the core of the structure now change into a mass of iron, nickle, a mantel of molten rock and radioactive elements, and the outer structure becomes a rockie crust. Now begins the next step. The forming mantle now expels a mix of gasses, hydrogen, oxygen, methane, carbon dioxide, argon, nitrogen, Ammonia, these gasses form a crude atmosphere. In this environment a simple form of preprogrammed long chain polymer is creates as single celled organism are created with a existing genetically engendered DNA sequence forming a advanced now organic slime like allege.
Hydrogen and oxygen are forced to fuse forming chains of one hydrogen to two oxygen, oceans of sweet water form. Other material is filtered and carbon is used to fuel the rapid development of genetically engineered plant life. Flora only. Fauna is not allowed at this point as any president would undergo massive changes and become either mutated or in the case of dead tissue resurrected. The flora follows preset molds, trees, flowers, grasses, ferns and the like. The nanittes now change forming micro organisms that help sustain the environment until fauna is added.

so what went wrong? Why is it that Genesis is not seen post star trek 3? Its unstable. The trek answer is something called "protomater" which is considered dangerous and unpredictable. The planet produced is going to continue having massive geological shifts and changes as it burns its self and breaks down the planets core is adding mass to itself increasing its heat and radioactivity until it reaches the point where its own mass sets it off like a huge atomic bomb.

The genesis device was a analogy for the use of radiation and atomic energy particularly nuclear weapons that seen in the early period of the twentieth century. Along side the bomb was seen a plethora of supposed new technologies that would have made life a virtual paradise until radiation's harmful effects were realized.

Mace Windu was Jackson's character. And yes Tupac is dead has been since 1996. Like I said before I have higher hopes for Godzilla then I do for star wars 7-8-9 if however there is to be a New wars.i would like to See The life of Han Solo.

Maybe. What I meant was, I always thought it would basically be a big bomb if someone didn't detonate it in exactly the right way. So as I understood it, one way or another, there's probably going to be a life sustaining planet formed, but I figured, if you do it Khan style, the Death Star would be blown to smithereens, and a planet will probably be created from the ashes. But do it "right" , and detonate it the right way (whatever that is), say, on the surface and without overloading it, the Death Star stays relatively intact while undergoing big changes.

I was probably missing the point of the discussion regardless, but wasn't the planet formed at the end of WoK unstable because it was used incorrectly, as in, used to make a planet from scratch, not on an existing one, and not because of some inherent flaw with the tech?

I doubt it. In the Search for Spock David Marcus said himself that he cheated. I suspect in the small scale like the Genesis cave on regula the process could be controlled but over a whole planet whether created from scratch via a detonation in a nebula like we saw in WoK or on a full sized dead moon or even in my deathstar scenario the planet Born is short lived the number of requirements to create a earth are huge. And go as far down as the planets very core. Khan did not overload it it just was not going to prove a success anyway.
the reason why Carol Marcus pointed to a moon or other dead form was raw materials. The Mutaria Nebula and Reliant fits that bill.
