It's Roller coaster logic, Same logic as a new ride at 6 flags. People Love New attractions especially Thrilling/scary ones.
there might also be darker implications. Early scripts for JP2 called for Dino-Human Hybrids. it was rejected but cropped up from time to time. Ingen is not just in the Themepark business they are Bio technologies but they also have a PMC and Military technologies wing and some fans have pointed to that for a reason.
I don't agree with it but they believe that I-Rex was a Bio weapon A living Tank that would strike at a Enemy force using Natures Guerrilla warfare tactics. I disagree with that way to high a chance of Collateral damage.
Personally I think they wanted to top Jurassic park. Dr. Wu would have known that the Dinousaurs of JP could change genders this might have influinced him to look into changing the Rules more.
I mean Jurassic World is bigger then JP but it's just a re-branding of the same Idea resurrecting Dinosaurs.Now how about digging into fantasy.

Kenner Tried such years back after the Lost World JP in a Toyline called Jurassic Park: Chaos Effect In which they were blending bits and pieces of different Dino's for the Same effect, some others were to hype up and Steroid up Dino's like T-rex and Raptors in brighter more impressive colors and sizes.
