Unfortunately mens medley team came 9th and missed the final.

Qin Haiyang who has won 2 golds didn't do well in medley.

They probably miscalculated and didn't use the best swimmers for back and butterfly. Also, Pan underperformed again for whatever reason.

Looks like Chinese swimmers took it easy after the Olympics success. They probably slacked on training hard as well. That's why the performance is so poor in world championship. Pan zhanle even failed to qualify!

A common trend with this world championships and the Olympics is for swimming all the golds are still won by men for China.

So while the female team might get more medals consistently there is still a gap in being able to get gold.

With 2 gold 6 silver and 6 bronze, China gets 14 medals for swimming.

In terms of golds, the number is not great compared to the past. However in total medals count, it's one of the highest.

So the direction is right. They just need to figure out how to get gold more. Guess thats the hardest step.

So will revisit in the next edition. The next Olympics is the main and end goal.

Chinese swimmers are peaking for the National Games in November. Most swimmers can only peak once per year. If the times are bad at the National Games, it would be more of a cause for concern.

Pan zhanle is the only guy that is slacking. Most others, especially the younger women have done really well. The 12 yr old girl Yu zidi was fourth in 3 events.
