It was this sort of thing that ruined the once stellar reputation of Italian football.
We should always support our sports in China.

Except football. It just needs to be torn down. Everything about it is rotten. They are still doing this kinda crap when everyone knows how important it is to get a semi competent national team. Remember a lot of this is on taxpayers money.

So I opened the news today and almost had a heart attack. I saw that during the aquatics world cup in Shanghai a few days ago, Italian Thomas Ceccon defeated Pan Zhanle in the 100m freestyle and took his world record, clocking in at 46.32s to Pan's 46.35s, both beating Pan's world record of 46.40s just set at the Olympics.

Except it wasn't on the news. I knew that Western media would be blowing that shit up if any of them beat Pan. Then I looked up the current world record for the men's 100m free and it's still Pan. So I started researching and found this article:

So what the hell is the deal with this? This is the 100m freestyle and it seems to exist in a parallel universe from the Olympic 100m freestyle. World record for here is 44.84s, junior swimming 45.64s. Way way way faster than at the Olympics.

Can anyone explain this discrepency? @azn_cyniq ?

The difference is the 25m swimming pool vs the Olympics 50m swimming pool.
