I've been reading Lin to Lakers is confirmed. Only one year though. He better get his game going or he'll just be a footnote in history.

He'll probably do better with the Lakers. He was uncomfortable with Coach McHale system, plus the Rockets still got Patrick Beverly who is still a pretty good starting PG.

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. (AP) — Jeremy Lin joined the Lakers on Sunday in a trade with the Houston Rockets, who also gave up first- and second-round draft picks in 2015 for the rights to European center Sergei Lishchuk.

Lin will make about $15 million this season in the last year of a deal that counts only $8 million against the salary cap. The Lakers have the cap room to absorb Lin's contract.

Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak says the trade allows the team to acquire a solid player and two draft picks while maintaining financial flexibility.

Lin averaged 12.5 points and 4.1 assists last season, but lost his starting job because coach Kevin McHale preferred Patrick Beverley's defensive play.

Lin was born in Los Angeles and figures to be popular with the region's large Asian community. He was raised in Northern California and played four years at Harvard.

Lishchuk is from Ukraine and played for Valencia of the Spanish ACB League last season, appearing in the Euro Cup. He was drafted by Memphis in 2004 and traded to the Rockets in February 2008 before landing with the Lakers as part of a three-way trade with New Jersey in December 2010.

Also, the Lakers signed Julius Randle to a rookie contract. The forward was drafted seventh overall and is with the Lakers' Summer League team in Las Vegas.

Randle started all 40 games in his lone season at Kentucky. He averaged 15.0 points and 10.4 rebounds and was the SEC freshman of the year.

Houston just let Parsons go and did not get Bosh. I personally think it is a BAD move to let Parsons go. Parsons is a young players that is only getting better. Even at his current state, he is a star-ism player and many times plays better than Harden. He scores with high efficiency and actually defends, which Harden almost never does. So the Rockets took apart team AGAIN!:mad::mad: Some of the major pieces of their team from last season are gone. They seem to do this rebuilding thing every the other year and never give the existing team a chance to bond and develop. This is the exact opposite of what the Spurs have been doing. You've got to give the players time to develop chemistry.

Lin is actually not that bad. He averaged 12 points and 4.5 assists last season with limited minutes (~16-17 minutes/game). And he was forced off the starting line-up because Harden doesn't play defense, NOT because Lin is a bad starter. As Lin is an average defender and Harden never defends his man, Houston's defense is left with a big hole. They had to plug in Beverly to defend for Harden. Lin is a very aggressive player whose style is to attack the basket constantly. Yet, last season, Lin usually didn't even attempt a basket until the second half. Many times, he lost his defender and penetrated down low and had a wide open shot in front of him. Yet, he passed the ball out. He never did that when he was in NY. It was clear as day that he was told to hold off and to yield.

So I would expect Lin to perform much better with the Lakers, where he becomes one of the first options next to Kobe. With Kobe injured all the time, Lin could possibly become a primary option... Who knows...

Never stated he was bad. He's a decent player.really he is. I want the Lakers back in the lime light in LA. I wanted a bigger named free agent. I think the Lakers can afford a bigger name.

As far a Kobe is concerned. The Lakers need to find out will he be able to play full time this coming season. And they need to find that out before training camp opens up.

I honestly see them going no-where in the 2014-15 NBA season.
