Re: Chinese Daily Photos, Videos & News of 2013!!!

Uhh! You beat me to it. I was also looking for the sports thread last night and was thinking about starting a new thread about DH-12. With DH-12and potentially Josh Smith, Houston will be HUGE. The one weakness of Houston is its front court. Now with THE best center in the game and one of the best power forwards, Houston will be hard, very hard to beat.

As a Laker fan.. I think I may throw up. Can you say ""rebuilding year"..for the Lakers?! Nooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Lakers still have the pieces to be a contender, IMO. However, the problem is their coach, D'Antoni. I have never thought too highly of him even when the Phenix was winning big in the regular seasons. His style will never win any championship. Then he went to New York and made a mess. It took Linsanity to bail him out. In LA, he had and still has all the pieces to win, but ignored some of the biggest assets in his disposal. It's well known that an inside-outside game is one of the most potent in basketball. However, he focused almost exclusively on the outside game, namely Kobe, and almost entirely ignored his inside weapons, perhaps the most potent in the NBA, namely Howard and Gasul. Can you imagine what Phil Jackson can do with these weapons? He has been not-so-openly criticized for his unwillingness or inability to utilize his front court. Other coaches claim he is simply stubborn, but I think he simply doesn't know how to do it. I think van Gundy said it the best. He said a great coach can utilize what he has to the fullest potential and should be able to be flexible with his strategies, instead of being a one trick pony. And that's what D'Antoni is.

With Kobe returning, they still have Gasul, and Nash in the roster. They're just missing just one or two key players to make a run for the title.

I thought this was kind of a mean comment by the BBC reporter towards Wimbledon Women's Singles Champion winner Marion Bartoli of France. She is actually extremely smart with a very high IQ. I would go out with her.

Andy Murray's first Wimbledon title has been hailed by the Queen, the Prime Minister as well as stars of sport and showbusiness.

David Cameron was in the Royal Box to watch Murray's straight sets 6-4 7-5 6-4 victory over world number one Novak Djokovic.

The Scot became the first Briton in 77 years to win the men's singles final.

After the victory, Mr Cameron tweeted: "It was a privilege to watch @andy_murray making history at #Wimbledon, and making Britain proud."

Murray was congratulated privately by the Queen following his historic win.

A Buckingham Palace spokeswoman said: "I can confirm that the Queen has sent a private message to Andy Murray following his Wimbledon victory."

Murray went up to his box in the stands to hug his mother Judy after his victory. She said she was immensely proud of her son's achievements.

She said: "It's the best feeling ever to see your son win Wimbledon. This is what he has talked about winning since he was a little boy, it was a dream that has become a reality now for him."

Murray admitted she found it hard to watch her son's triumph. "I have been shaking for the last three hours," she added.

"I am fine now but 15 minutes ago (just before Murray won) I was an emotional wreck."

Murray's younger brother Jamie, who won the Wimbledon mixed doubles title in 2007, tweeted: "What an incredible day!! So proud of my lil bro! What a champion!!"

In Murray's home town of Dunblane , supporters flocked to local venues to cheer on their favourite son.

Former British number one Tim Henman has backed Murray to now go on and win more grand slams.

Henman, who reached four Wimbledon semi-finals, said: "It's a remarkable achievement for him and something we are proud of.

"Andy had this belief in his heart of hearts that he would win it. He had some huge disappointment with losing 12 months ago but deep down he knew he could do this and this is going to be one of many more grand slams for Andy Murray."

Star Wars actor and Murray's fellow Scot Ewan McGregor wrote: "Oh my God. What a match, what a player. Inspiring a Nation. .Andy Murray!! Ya Beauty."

Former England striker and Match Of The Day presenter Gary Lineker added: "I sense @andy--murray will take a bit of beating at Sport's Personality Of The Year! #wimbledon."

Murray's Davis Cup team-mate Ross Hutchins, who has spoken about the support he has received from the Scot since he was diagnosed with cancer, was delighted to see his friend win.

Hutchins said: "I'm ecstatic. I am so pleased for him."

Other politicians also joined the PM in congratulating Murray.

Scottish First Minister Alex Salmond, who was also in the Royal Box and helped unfurl a Saltire, wrote: "A truly phenomenal victory by @andy--murray. Hard fought and well deserved. #Wimbledon."

Liberal Democrat leader and Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg wrote: "Congratulations @andy--murray! What a match, you've made us all proud! #Wimbledon"

Labour opposition leader Ed Miliband added: "Congratulations Andy Murray. A historic and amazing moment for him and for the whole country."

London Mayor Boris Johnson writing: "Congratulations to my one time doubles partner @andy--murray on his glorious Wimbledon victory!"

SAN FRANCISCO

The Freak is Back.

Tim Lincecum tossed aside his recent struggles and pitched his first career no-hitter and the second in the majors in 11 days, a gem saved by a spectacular diving catch by right fielder Hunter Pence in the San Francisco Giants' 9-0 win over last-place San Diego on Saturday night

Lincecum has won two Cy Young Awards and two World Series rings. Now he has something really remarkable — a no-hitter in which he threw a whopping career-high 148 pitches."Right now I think I'm just kind of coming down and don't know where to be emotionally," a calm Lincecum said. The slightly built right-hander was in control from his first pitch until his last, which settled into left fielder Gregor Blanco's glove and set off a wild celebration in front of a pro-Giants crowd at Petco Park.

Catcher Buster Posey wrapped Lincecum (5-9) in a bear hug and lifted him off the ground. Lincecum was then mobbed by his teammates behind the mound and doused with water.Blanco, who caught Yonder Alonso's fly ball to end the game, found Lincecum in the mob and handed him the ball.Lincecum, who witnessed Jonathan Sanchez's no-hitter against San Diego in 2009 and Matt Cain's perfect game last year, was given a champagne shower by his teammates in the clubhouse.
