Yes, a 50/100/200 sweep has never been done before because it's so rare to have genetics for both sprinting and sustained effort. Bolt could do the 100 and 200 but no more at the 400. Australian Kaylee McKeown, however, has the chance to do it tomorrow for the Breastroke as well but very much hoping that Peng Xuwei will bring her down as Peng did get the best time during the heats.View attachment 116493
Qin Haiyang is the man!
Dude just broke the WR in 200m breaststroke! He not only smashed it but he did it in front of the Aussie WR holder who finished second.
Qin is officially in Goat discussion now for breaststroke swimmers. No one in history ever did the 50/100/200m triple win before in major international competition. Not just for the breaststroke but for any other strokes. Shows how hard is it to do that. And he did it comfortably.
Sorry I doubted him yesterday when he finished second behind the WR holder on the semis. I thought Zac was hard to beat but Qin brought home the bacon. Congrats!
The dude is super jacked by the way! He must be super hard trainer.
The bonus was listening to live commentary on Australia's channel nine. The commentators were all expecting their guy to win but when it was clear he was getting beat, they all sounded like they just learned their dog died. Nothing against them as they were complimentary on the china team and Qin especially but it was funny as feck lol.
That's true. The shorter sprint events require more power while the longer distance events require more endurance. Hence why we seldom, if ever, see any swimmers dominate in all the categories. Sun Yang dominated the long distance 1500m but when he concentrated on mid distance like 400 and 200m events he lost his dominance in the 1500m.Yes, a 50/100/200 sweep has never been done before because it's so rare to have genetics for both sprinting and sustained effort. In any case, China now has 20 gold medals to Australia's 12, so no change in difference from yesterday and now the Aussies need 8 golds from 13 races in the last 2 days to catch China. I don't think that's possible. America's still at 3 somehow... this has got to be the most serious meltdown in swimming history.
Utilizing the American way oF counting medals, they won the championship because they have the most medals.China won the 2023 World Aquatics Championships.
Excellent results in swimming by some very promising youngsters. The future is bright for Chinese swimming.
The US explaining why its Olympic medal haul should be considered greater than China's in 2048:Utilizing the American way oF counting medals, they won the championship because they have the most medals.
Actually, China has beaten the US at full force before and usually comes within one or 2 gold medals at the typical comp. The US beat us by 0 golds last year; needed to go to silvers as a tie-breaker. We're not far off and the US, in normal form, has only gotten a 20 gold medal haul 1 time since China really started competing in 2009 (before that, we had like only 5 medals and were like 5th in the standings). Everything's a little off with Russia absent though, as they empty up the competition in swimming but also in artistic performances so everyone got a little boost.proud of my country for winning this year's World Aquatics Championships. but that's only because the US had an off year,
I expect China to get better at swimming as the country gets richer and more kids get pool time to showcase their talents. On the other hand, I expect Chinese efforts at sports like weightlifting to suffer somewhat as that sport relies on poor rural folk throwing thier kids to the wolves in order to get the talent pool we have there.they too good at swimming.
Black people disrespect themselves when they compete for the US and honor the people and the flag that enslaved their ancestors. It is their mental problem. Can't blame the US government for accepting. If I were a black athlete in the US, I would train on America's dime and the second I got good enough to win, I would use some 23 and an Me crap to track my lineage to my nation of origin in Africa and win that medal for them. Become a national hero too.does anyone else think it's unfair that the US has black people competing for it at the olympics? (Half kidding).
That's not how we roll. We have pride and confidence in our Chinese blood. What we win, we win by our power. If it's not meant for us, others can take it. Every Chinese athlete on the olympic team has Chinese blood. I certainly wouldn't mind if a kid who was half black half Chinese ran for us (genetics-wise, a Chinese-Jamaican mix would be absolute killer at the 100-200m dash because Chinese explosive power genetics combined with Jamaican short-term sustained stride genetics would be unbeatable) but I would be ashamed if team China bought a foreigner to compete for us. It's like giving up and admitting that Chinese people aren't good enough to win, but then growling that we're shamelessly greedy for the medal anyway.they have white people for swimming, black people for track and field, two areas with the most medals. I wish china had some black athletes, they absolutely dominate track and field.
