Well, seeing that there are conflicting reports of the SSK being equipped with SLCMs and SLBMs, the VPM hypothesis isn't exactly an impossibility.

The Hyunmoo 3C is arguably the ROK's most effective weapon (and deterrent to a certain extent) against North Korea's military & administration. It is therefore expected that the system would be made available to a vast variety of South Korean platforms (vehicle, SSK, aircraft, DDG, FFG, etc.) and compatible with a selection of various warheads. I'm not ruling out a future anti-ship variant as well.

Time will tell I guess. More details would eventually get leaked to the public once construction is well near a milestone.

so you're disputing the third KSS-III sub will get Hyunmoo-2 (and not -3)?

I'm pretty sure changing between the 2 &3 is simply a matter of software integration. In fact, I'd expect the KS-III to adopt both kinds of missiles (or at least be able to do so).

in the context of Hyunmoo-2 slash -3 range (500 slash 1500 km) etc. I quickly scrambled this:

the contract for two more
had been signed
(the cost of the first two reportedly (can't locate Jane's link now) was $587m which, considering the strong armament, would be a great value for the price)
