The South Korean government and KAI are investing 65 billion Won in the development of the single-seat FA-50 aircraft. The single-seat FA-50 is expected to be ready in 2028 and the airframe modifications will include adding an internal fuel tank, increasing the operational radius by up to 30% and installing a collision avoidance system with ground (AGCAS). The aim of the project is to enter the American market, because the USA plans to introduce about 500 units into service, including an advanced training aircraft for the US Navy and a light tactical aircraft for the USAF.
