Planet Labs has measured its size to be smaller than that of a Super Hornet.

I think it's safe to conclude that it's not an active developmental prototype of the J-50 but something else. Possibly a subscale prototype that was tested prior to the actual demonstrators.

It's also possible that it's a CCA, being much smaller than the J-50 prototypes.

thanks … according to what a friend told me it is smaller and slightly different to the one that flew recently.

According to him it looks a lot like a RCS model turned upside down.
Probably an old RCS model for what would become the J-50, then? Interesting that it would be parked on a taxiway ramp, though.

Yea I saw a lot of CG models on Chinese internet showing the groove on the back of the aircraft, implying the second set of images that were released happened to show the back of the plane. I was wondering how does SDF feel about that?

Nope. Landing gear was on the grooved side and no cockpit showing.

There is no way this image is showing the back (or top) of the aircraft. You can see the landing gear doors open, with the landing gear extended (semi-extended). In the video this image is clipped from, you see the plane turn and you get a more aft view towards the end of the video. It would be exciting "I was inverted" but not true.
