By the time the FC-31 is available for purchase it is highly likely the Russians will have finished development of the Su-57M and the AL-51 engine will be in serially produced fighters. As is they already are likely producing like 8 airplanes a year, and this will likely increase to 12 next year. This might seem low to some people, but it is about the same production rate as the French had for the Rafale. And production can be further ramped up if the factory ceases producing the Su-35. Production of those 12 aircraft a year is with them basically using like half the floorspace in the factory to produce the Su-57. Also from what I know that was also with them operating a normal production schedule with one shift. They could easily triple the amount of work hours in the same floor space if they wanted to by going from a single shift 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, to two shifts 12 hours a day, 6 days a week.

Su-57M needs to fill domestic needs too though. Maxed out its 24 total a year. Maybe 8 of them for exports. FC-31 is a pure export plane, and its domestic equivalent seems to be for carriers only. That leaves most of the room for exports.

Yeah. Sure. But it is not like India is going to be buying the FC-31. :)
I think the most likely candidates would be countries in the Middle East and Pakistan. Thailand or Indonesia could also be a possibility I think.

With regards to the Su-57 another thing is that the patent for the dual seater came out. So it seems they will be working on that. I doubt it will be produced at the same factory. Will probably be made at Irkut same place where they make the Su-30SM2.

Guys … can we please stick to the topic, which is the FC-31 and/or J-31 but surely not the Pakistan AF acquisition issues, how many JF-17 they operate and so on. Everything PAF resisted could be posted in the appropriate Pakistan news thread, but no longer here!

I'm not sure about this....
Is J-31 really a 'rip-off' of F-35?
I know that there are some minor designs difference, like J-31 having two engines while F-35 has one, but from the outside, the appearance looks pretty similar to each other....
