Delightful to see J-31 light up her after-burners and showed some vapour trails. Looks almost sure that she will performed flight display after the airshow officially open, hopefully with some aecrobatic moves.

I believe the J-20 slightly longer body is due to the fuel consumption that it needs for the heavier WS-15 engine that's going to be use to provide a more thrust. As far as it's primary roll...we don't know for sure.

True but not exactly. The Chinese military emphasizes supercruise as the foremost attribute of the next generation fighter. In order to achieve that goal with potentially underpowered engines, the J-20 was elongated to minimize drag at supersonic speeds.

I think that the J-20 will be a fighter-interceptor in the vein of the fabled YF-23. While it may never match the Raptor in close-quarter turning, it may not have to (once again I'm sure that it will be no slouch in the maneuvering department). EODAS and wide-off bore missiles, rather than fancy aerobatics, will dictate the outcome of future air-to-air engagements.

true, and in all honesty, most aft mounted delta main wing aircraft have a longer fuselage, F-102, F-106, A-12/SR-71, even the XB-70, and the Concorde, oh and the wonderfully fast if slightly vicious B-58 Hustler. Siege is on the right track here, and in actuality the J-20 will have plenty of "internal fuel" an area where many others are lacking??

Well these looks better than the CGI images I saw but still like the F-22 type tailfins better.

Interesting changes, quite similar to the ones done with the J-20 but also still unique. Anyway it will be interesting to learn if this is a configuration the PLAAF/PLANAF supports ?

I still can't believe that the project 310 should be a "private venture" initiated and financed from SAC only.

it may be developed by sac, but it is evidently financed and backed by whole of avic. in that regard, it is actually possible even chengdu corp, being also part of avic, contributed or is to contribute in the future in some form to the project.

Is it just me that's noticing the thick exhaust fume? Is it typical for Russian engines or does NATO engines do the same?
