So now the J-31 is painted in a darker grey and silver color? It must be another prototype I hope.

Most likely the the same coating that had been applied to the J-20 prototypes. It does not necessarily mean an all new prototype, however. But it does indicate a step forward in the testing phase.

I think it is just artefacts of the photo, I dont' think there's concrete visual evidence of any change in paint scheme.

Certainly, if we're going by colour, I don't think it is the J-20 gray we've come to associate with 2011 and 2012 which are presumed to have RAM coating.

I think you are right, what initially I thought were the hardened coatings on the wing edges (hence different tone) now looks like are just reflections on the flaps and control surfaces.

I haven't posted anything substantial in a while. Let's indulge a bit:

She's a good looking bird indeed. What the JSF could have been if not for the albatross known as the B version.

First thanks for posting these wonderful pics.

Second, lets not go there by comparing the the J-31 and the F-35 B. They're both wonderful birds and are still in their early stages of development (meanwhile the J-31 is in testing stages). I like to give each project the benefit of the doubt and wait until further progress and history before giving final judgement of it. Remember, like I always said...IT'S...ALL...ABOUT...THE...PROGRAM.

Strong and well funded military programs = sexy new toys

Don't forget only less than a hand full of countries can sustain such an expensive program.
