OTYou're absolutely correct, the right engine is making thrust, the left engine is likely at ground idle thrust, turbine aircraft are often taxied on one engine to minimize fuel burn, in fact there is work going on to taxi with electric power to the mains, and to fire up once you reach the run-up pad to save fuel, another dumb green idea, but I guess if you are in line waiting for take-off that black rich mixture can be very noxious. This will likely cause more problems somewhere else, but hey, its a great idea...brat
That work has been going on for more than twenty years so I'm not very hopeful. But if you remember that a 747 might burn as much fuel before leaving the ground as the airship Hindenburg needed to carry seventy passengers over the ocean it might, in the long run, not be such a daft idea.
