It does looks like Vietnam's leadership class has made their choice to pivot more toward China the coming years.
Will be good to see. However, I don't think we can trust Vietnam on that yet. They still hedge their bets with the West while trying to use that against China when needed. Plus they have always been the most greedy, belligerent and offensive party in the SCS dispute. Even with the Vietnam civil war and subsequent war with US backed South Vietnam coupled with world sanctions/isolation(not even counting war with China) that followed after that Vietnam was still the most belligerent party in SCS which is why they occupied by far the most islands in the region to this day(they even retook some from the phillipines) despite all the turmoil the country was going through. If they were the stronger party here, they probably would have long occupied the whole South China sea a long time ago in my opinion. China and the others were more passive in this regard. Things have changed today though. So let's see how things playout.

Vietnam whether you like it or not is part of Sino-sphere, our brother and neighbor. Historical grievances are there so is mutual understanding, respect and friendship. If you can define the huge help and sacrifice the Chinese provide for their struggle for freedom against the French and the Americans as one of them then surely we can start a new to rekindled that spirit.

All good to hear and say but reality is often different.its not about what i like or not, im making an observation . There is no such thing as "brothers" in geo politics and ethnicity or race doesn't determine alliances or interests dude. If anything Vietnamese are one of the most anti China countries in Asia( and funny enough have one of the most pro US feelings) from what I have widely red and the few i have interacted with as well. I know its also due historical reasons of colonial chinese rule and for modern day has more to do with border conflicts and SCS issues as well which often evokes passionate ultra nationalistic fervours in Vietnam against China. So as you can see ethnicity and race doesn't have anything to do with alliances or favourable feelings towards other countries/ interests. Look at the US/West who have close allies/partners throughout Asia I.e South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Singapore, Thailand, Philippines , Malaysia etc etc. Are these countries Caucasian ? Lol Russia is Caucasian like us but is Russia a Western ally? Etc etc so that doesn't determine country's position geopolitically. In fact most countries with the most favourable or pro China stance are not even in Asia/Sinosphere . Lol
As they say "familiarity often breeds contempt" and i agree with that(though not always).

Anyway, Vietnam as i said is hedging her bets(they still have close ties with the U.S/West to hedge agaibst China when needed) , but judging from past precedence China shouldn't have our hopes too high for them, should keep that in mind and be mindful of that while still trying to have good relations and ties with them since it also serves China's interests. But acting like Vietnam is a brother and everything is good is rather naive. Lol We can't take anything for granted in geopolitics.

I couldn't agree more. I think Vietnamese isn't trustable. Even though you teach and help them, when come to self interest, they will never think twice to stab you. Totally disregard the favors done. Most likely due to sino-viet war in 1979. If there's any dispute with Taiwan, SK, Philippines and Japan, you can see how Viets reacting with their comments

Occupied most islands =! most belligerent. Belligerence is measured by change in position not current position.

Vietnam has done less to change the status quo than Philippines, and if you go by who has the most effective islands, China has the most airbases and the only ones with 3000 m runways capable of landing heavy transports and bombers.
