A clear view of the new 155mm self-propelled howitzer. A different chassis with seven road wheels on each side. Different turret geometry from the PLZ-05.

PLZ-05 is pretty new already.
Replacing it now must mean a lot of automation/computerization features.

Silly question regarding PCL-181 cab shots, I don't see any rifle racks.... where do they keep their personal weapons?

I remember the koreans and indians are comparing PLZ05 to the K9 and laughing at it because it rocks back and forth after firing.

I wonder if this new chassis is one of the results from this test bed from way back

I'm still curious about what this chassis displayed in the 201 Institute advertising video is. Engine in the rear, with 7 road wheels. The video also said that it could reach 80km/h. So probably a 7-roadwheel testbed? Or even a prototype chassis for the 4th gen? Seems to me that it's almost impossible that it's something besides a tank.

Chinese artillery is one of the most, if not the most, advanced in the world. As is South African artillery.
Just compare the round range of Chinese artillery to other US or Russian artillery of same period.

Legacy of Gerald Bull. The Chinese are ahead of the other major powers by like two decades.

The US is trying to mitigate this lack of range with the latest M109A7 with longer barrel.
Well, they still call it the M109 still but it's in fact a whole new artillery unit. Not even chassis is the same.
It uses Bradley chassis with the NLOS-C Future Combat Systems gun.
